Good News: Got a DT 2.0 Clawdeen. Bad News: She has a bad eye.
« on: November 09, 2012, 02:25:16 PM »
I was hoping someone could give me some advice.

I've been wanting a DT 2.0 Clawdeen for a while, but wasn't able to afford her the last time I saw one at Dollar General a few months ago. I haven't seen her at ALL, in either of my nearby DG's, since late August.

Today, I stopped in and found one single Clawdeen left among at least five each of Abbey and Draculaura. I still wasn't really able to afford her, but figured since I hadn't seen her in so long here, it'd be pretty much a now-or-never thing. So, I bought her.

The problem is, she has several flaws. Most notably, one of her eyes is smudgy, mostly in the black parts. It's not HORRIBLE, but definitely noticeable. Her hair's tangly-looking, worse than I've ever seen in the box, and she has glue or something on her face, which makes her look like she's got a terrible cold. XD It seriously looks like her nose is running.

I did notice the flaws before I bought her, but like I said above, since this was only the second time I've seen her since August, I figured it was either buy a "defective" one or risk never finding one in-store again. The hair and "snot" isn't so bad, as I'm sure it'll be easily fixed/cleaned once I debox her, but the smudged eye does bother me.

What should I do? Should I contact Mattel about the issues? Should I just keep her in-box for a while and see if maybe a better one pops up and then exchange her? What stores, besides Dollar General, are carrying the DT 2.0 line?

What's up with those DT 2.0 Clawdeens and crazy eyes?
Go ahead and contact Mattel. They need to learn that their crappy quality control needs work. I know that they don't have a replacement for her, as I just called about mine last week. You'll have to send her in and get a voucher.

Not necessarily. I've contacted Mattel twice about two of my dolls that had issues, and both times I was sent a replacement doll without sending mine to them.

I'd definitely contact them. If nothing else, it will let them know that there are issues with the dolls and most people won't just accept them.

Either that or return her and have someone here purchase a better one for you. I've personally seen at least 20 of her here spread throughout the dollar stores. She's also available at Kohls, gordmans, justice, big lots, etc...It should be possible to find a better one

Thanks, Rhini, for letting me know what other stores carry them.  ^.^ There's a Kohl's and a Big Lots not too far from me, so I'll try checking there this weekend.

I think I'll leave contacting Mattel as a last resort, especially if I'll most likely have to send her in to get a refund/replacement. I can see why that's their policy, but seeing as I had such a hard time finding her to begin with, I think I'd rather keep this one than not have one at all. Plus, if they sent a voucher, I'm not sure where I'd be able to use it; I hear most stores aren't taking any coupons/vouchers valued at more than $2 because of the holidays?

Another place to check if you have one nearby is Farm & Fleet. They have signature dolls for $16 and Dead Tired for $10.

It's not strict policy. I got a $40 voucher, and my friend got a new doll - all without having to send them our originals. You can contact them, but you don't have to actually send it in unless you decide the replacement is a better chance :)

The Wave 2 DT dolls are all over the place here. Meijer is always super stocked, and I've seen them a few times at Kmart too. Are you near a Meijer? If not, I can always pick one up.

Thanks for all the wonderful advice, guys. ^_^ I went to Kohl's tonight and they had two Clawdeens left, so I was able to get one with good eyes.

I still have the one I bought the other night at Dollar General; I was planning to return her to DG, but do you think I should write to Mattel before I return her? I was thinking it can't hurt to let them know about the issues; maybe it'll make for better quality control with future releases. What do you guys think?

we had a perfect DT 2.0 clawdeen at my store for so long! wish i would have grabbed it when i thought about it! she sold just a week ago. i was after abbey, but she sold so fast, and then dracularua. if you have a family dollar in your town (like dollar general) they also carry the dead tired monster high dolls, that's where i got draculaura from.

i had asked my manager if we'd get anymore monster high dolls in and she said we just had the one box of them and that was all we'd get.
