BJD help, please!?
« on: October 23, 2012, 11:04:02 AM »

Ok, so I managed to knock my girl over on my desk, and she's now sporting a hideous scuffmark on her forehead. I am absolutely mortified that I have hurt my baby, what will I do?

Will magic eraser suffice? I can get those on eBay, right?

I'm not in the US, we don't have Target or Walmart over here.

Have you tried a regular eraser? Like on a pencil? I've erased Sharpie marks off of things with one before :D

I wouldn't recommend an actually eraser.

The magic eraser might do the trick.

I can pick you one up from wal mart and mail it to you at cost. Just let me know.

if it's a dirty scuff, try just water and soap on a cloth or paper towel.

And Doktor Power is the UK brand of magic eraser :)

and a CLEAN rubber or kneaded eraser may work, as these are used in the face uping process.  but be careful to to apply much pressure to avoid shiny residue from the erasers left behind.
Magic eraser is more a sponge than an actual eraser though :) it acts as a light abrasive dry, and as a cleaning agent when wet.
It can be used on dolls either way.
If it's just a shiny spot, use it dry, if it's a mark, use it damp.

This did the trick! I can't believe that's all it took!
That resin must be pretty resilient.

Thank you!

Thank you SwordPony, crisis averted for now, thanks for the kind offer!

Glad you got the mark off! For future reference though, they sell the equivalent of magic erasers in stores here too, I bought it at ICA. Their own brand comes in a blue box and is called "fläcksuddare". :)

Yup, it is. You still want to be careful, but falls onto tile floors, pavement, etc are what you want to watch out for. Also, I cannot emphasize the need for face masks enough when you travel with your dolls.

Ooh, that's good to know, I will pick some up next time, I'm sure I will need one eventually.

Thanks everyone!
