Jem: Glitter and Gold - updated pics! PC and for sale/trade
« on: October 23, 2012, 04:56:04 PM »
I have a JEM doll from my childhood that I am thinking about selling :)

I have all of her clothes, minus the hair ribbon, and I might still have her stand, cassette tape and maybe her bracelets and sunglasses if I can find them.

I removed her batteries and there is no corrosion. She should still work.

What would you think I could sell her for? She does have a spot on her forehead, and some residue on her neck.

I'm assuming this isn't your picture?  Depends on the condition of everything and what all you have too. Also when you take pictures take a good pictures of her face.  There are 3 versions of her eyebrows.  Light yellow eyebrows, brown eyebrows (harder to find, but not sure how in demand they really are), and the airbrushed eyebrows (least desireable version but people love Jem anyway lol).

Check for shoulder chips which are common and make sure all her limbs click.  Condition of the clothing can be a determining factor too.  The more pieces you have the more she's worth.  You could sell her with all her pieces or sell them seperately too.  If the shoes are mint you can get at least $5.00 for them maybe a little more.  Kind of depends on who you have looking (I have tons of her pieces lol.  Me = Jem hoarder or Jem super fan lol).

Without seeing your Jem and all the pieces I'm going out on a limb and say somewhere between $12-$25. (yeah that's a big difference).  You can still buy GG Jem NRFB for $35-$60 dollars on ebay (I have two O.o).

Thank you for the advice! Her hair is about dry (and so pink!!!) so I'll get pics tomorrow with all her stuff that I have currently.

Will the stand make a big difference on her price?

I'd say offer up the pieces for sale or as a whole.  These are my personal feelings of what they are worth.  Others might disagree and that's fine but I have nearly around 150-200 Jem dolls so I've done some Jem shopping before lol.  It looks like she has mold on her face so she's bait really.  Someone might want her to try to make a custom and try to repaint over that spot (?) or they might want her hands for another Jem or something... I think her price would be $1-2 for the doll.  $1.00 for the tights (unless they have a whole or are really worn in a spot or more, then it'd be $.50).  If the gold shoes are mint and there is no rubs then $5/$6 is good, if they do have rubs then $3 is where I'd put them (maybe $4.00 if the rub was under the sole or something).  The white sandles should be around $5/$6.  The corral pink shoes are from the fashion "Like a Dream", they are worth $8-$10 (they looks like "Like a dream" shoes- pinks can be hard to id, they also kind of look like Universal Appeal in the photo and those are worth $5-$7). The blue bodysuit (that is really faded) is also from "Like a Dream", being in the condition it is I'd say $4.00  The fur stole has some rubs so $2/$2.50 for the price.  The skirt doesn't look super worn but I can't view it in person so I'd say $2/$3 for it.  The lacy body suit looks good in the photo so assuming it is all around $2-$3 for it. The original Jem belt in your photobucket I'd say $.75/$1.00 because it looks like it's missing part of the sticker and some of the fringe is coming loose/out & a tad off color.

As for a group price for everything in that photo I'd say $15-$20.  Selling it piece by piece might be hard for a lot of the pieces since they are fairly common Jem pieces.

The gold thing isn't Jem so I can't help you with that.  The blue jacket is Barbie and the Rocker Diva's jacket.  It's really worn.  Probably not worth much as a mint one isn't worth much at all either. :/
