Customizing the wolf CAM question - ears and rehairing
« on: September 30, 2012, 09:47:29 AM »
Hey!  So I am starting work on my cam wolf today, but I tried to glue her ears down with e6000 (great stuff) but it's not sticking down completely, though it isn't fully dry yet.  How do you get your ears to stay down?  I poked holes for the pegs, stuck them in the scalp, put e6000 glue on it, and glued them in.  THey aren't staying flush with the scalp though, and it's bothering me.

What do y'all do to make it work?

ps, i'm currently typing one handed, since i'm holding down her ears, lol!

Also, do any of y'all paint the scalps when you rehair?  And if so, do you seal it so when you style/wash the hair the paint doesn't come up?  I painted my ghoulia's scalp red and I'm sealing it with some modge podge (my spray can of dull coat that isn't so dull is out).  Good idea or bad?

I am going to be doing this soon and I want to know too. I think I may use some gel super glue though.

the ears will not completely be flush. The head is curved and the bottom of the ears are not. The hair usually hides the small gap. Also, I've discovered the two different plastics take to each other better if you rough them both up a bit. I usually use an emory board or a small piece of sand paper to scuff the bottom of the ears and the area I'm putting the ears.

has for scalp painting/painting in general - I use whatever sealant they have from DH. I've had instances where I've had to seal where other people have painted the scalp because of tackiness and it seems to be working well. Lex's head is sealed like that. I think, when I get more colors, I'm going to start painting my scalps, I just actually lack decent paint.
