Color appropriate for Bon Bon?
« on: September 17, 2012, 06:22:14 PM »
Since I want to start out with one of my first g4 customs I wanted to make a g1 style Bon Bon out of Applejack. Though I'm not sure which hair color to go with
Here's Bon Bon visitors can't see pics , please register or login

i would go with Deadly Nightshade, as the pony versions of the cartoons typically have brighter toned hair. i would go maybe a shade or two lighter than grapes too.

you might want to post this in customs, prolly get more feedback there.

death by bougainvillea.  G1 applejack is pretty orange even if you sunfaded her.  I think a darker more wow color of the dbb would work well at picking up some more of that fuchsia tone.

hmm I read something somewhere about if you find two colours that are two close get them all because the colour in real life will vary. I would go with the deadly nightshade or the bougainvillea one (the two everyone else are saying.) But just to be safe I would likely get both then choose when I saw them in real life.

Ooh, I'm going to throw a major spanner in your works and say none of these colours!  :P

Going with an actual photo of Bon Bon:

A good match would be more likely Mulberry Crush (photo courtesy of mylittlecustoms.com):

Personally, I'd use Mulberry Crush - or even a blend of Mulberry Crush and Brambleberry (unfortunately out of stock), but if you're planning on making a darker shade for Bon Bon, perhaps Death by Bougainvillea, so you have some highlights and it's not so dark as the Deadly Nightshade itself - which is quite a heavy colour in person. Best of luck to you!  :D
