party policy
« on: September 19, 2012, 06:43:10 AM »
Hey guys, I want to have a suprise party for my mum at a fancy place or a nice place for lunch.

but what's the deal? Am I expected to pay for everyone's meal? or do they pay for themselves?

Plus I have cousins that are muslim.... So they'll be miffed if it's not a indian food kinda place or if they don't get invited. What do? Any ideas? I wanted to do something for her 50th, but a possum ruined that xD, SO I wanna make up for this year.

I'm also on a tight budget, see? *opens her wallet and moths fly out*

I would do a small get together at someone's house. Provide light snacks, and drinks (ice tea, soda). If anyone wants something more than that, let them know they are welcome to bring more.

If you wanted to to a pot luck and have everyone bring something, that would be a good route to go too :) If you go this route, you should provide sandwiches and let everyone else worry about drinks, sides and snacks.

I agree with a potluck!  Your Muslim friends can bring halal food and everyone will be happy.  :)

You could do a potluck at the park if the weather is nice! Bring some things to play with (Volleyball net with volley ball, or maybe a horseshoes set or even botchi ball) and you will have a great time :)

A potluck is a gathering where everyone brings something of their own.  One person brings the potato crisps, one person brings the potato salad, one person brings the cooked goat (if they are halal, :D ), one person brings the fruit, one person brings the dessert...  does that make sense?  :D

Yes a bring a plate thing, should it just be a bunch of snacks andfinger foods, or make it a meal thing?

You can do it as a meal thing :) Just make sure either you are bringing or someone is bringing a main dish like spaghetti (I am not familiar with Indian cuisine, otherwise I would have suggested something Indian :) ) You can have 2 people bring main dishes so people have choices too :)
