According to Wikipedia, a Furby used to cost around $35. So that's not really a huge difference over time.

And, after a quick Google search, I can say that this is a Shelby. A lil' creepy looking, but I won't discount them as I've never seen one in action.

I always wanted a Furby when I was a kid, but my parents wouldn't let me have one. I had to settle with a beanbag Furby and a Furby coloring book. Although I am very tempted to get one on eBay, considering they aren't that expensive.

I think the original Furbys were somewhere in the $30-$35 range. I have the box for a first-generation Furby that I have and there is a sticker on there from TRU with a $30 price tag c:

I've been on and off thinking about getting a Shelby... I'm not sure. The main attraction to Furbys (for me) is that they're all fuzzy and cute, and Shelbys just don't have that same appeal to me xD;

I've never seen the Tandars before. I like that you can plug the tail into the USB port. That's cute.

I don't have any recent pics of my Furby family unfortunately I promised someone I'll take one as soon as possible, but as my camera's been broken for quite a long time now, and the end of university didn't let me spend money on a new one, it's still a promise yet to be fulfilled (this isn't something I wanted to attempt taking with my phone's crappy cam). but I did find an old pic of my cuties (family has grown alot since that ), so here are some of my furballs:

Wow, everyone's Furbies are so cute! They were so popular when I was in 5th grade, but we were quite poor and mum could not afford to get me one ... until we went to Canada and the exchange rate brought a Furby within my reach!

I had 2, though not at the same time. One was an original, the other was one of the Y2K Furbies. I am definitely considering getting a few of the new ones that are coming out. I walked by the talking sign for them in Walmart last night and it scared the pants off me!

I had the leopard one, a pink baby one and my brother had a blue baby I distinctly remember going to TRU and buying one with my TRU cash I got for Christmas! Can you believe a time when they didn't have gift cards lol!

I picked up a new one last night., and found a 2005 one at goodwill too!   

I'm really not sure what to think of the new ones yet- but my cats HATE him. They scream and yell like they're at the vet when he's on!

I still have mine but they don't have batteries. Two of them don't work anymore. My first furby was black and brown and I loved him so much that when he stopped working I cried.

I was absolutely OBSESSED with Furbys when they came out (I was in 4th grade).  I clipped out pictures in the newspaper and taped them to my wall, I begged and pleaded.  Heck, I even used the poetry unit in my 5th grade class to write poems about them.  After a year of begging, my mom finally agreed to let me have one.  She called store after store to see if they were in stock.  Finally, a TRU had them and was just getting ready to put them on the floor.  We rushed over and got there as they put the last one on the display.  I picked mine, a orange tiger stripe, and my sister chose a black and white one.  Then I had to wait a couple more months until my 5th grade continuation before I could finally play with it.  I still have her.

I also had a white Furby Baby, but it was not as cute as I had anticipated.  Mostly it was just annoying.  And I had a Gizmo too, but my original is the only one I kept because she meant the most.  She should be at my dad's house, where a lot of my older toys are stored right now.

I saw the new Furby at Target yesterday and it cracked me up!  I hadn't seen this thread yet and it really shocked me to see them on the shelves.  It looks like the new eyes are digital?  Odd.

I found a 2005 the other day at Goodwill- she's pretty cool, except her beak has disintigrated.  My fiance also bought ANOTHER new one- we'll have 4 of the new ones soon!
