For Autographs
« on: September 05, 2012, 07:26:31 PM »
Hi, all!  I'm heading to a convention in a few weeks and am once again hoping to get the autographs of some of my favorite actors, actresses and writers... on ponies!!

I know this question has been asked before (and on my behalf, too, actually), but I'd love to know if anyone has suggestions as to the right kind of pen/ink to use for autographing ponies?  I have my girls sealed with acrylic gloss which should protect them from some of the bleeding, and I did test a section of a FrankenBait with a regular black sharpie with what seems to have been success... that was months ago and no bleeding so far.  But does anyone have any better suggestions?  I'm hoping for something that won't run or require further sealing, at least not right at the time of signing, because I'm going to be juggling quite a few of these gals and I foresee doom if I try to seal anything right there on the convention floor.....

Hi there! I've gotten several ponies signed before, and from what I've heard, you're going to want something that's called 'archival ink' - it's acid-free and designed to last a long time. The brand I use are called Micron, and they've seemed to hold up very well so far! The ponies I got signed with Sharpie have, unfortunately, faded even over the brief time I've had them. (I didn't pre-seal them, however, so that might prevent bleeding/fading!)

The only problem with Micron (not sure about other archival pens) is that they don't 'flow' as well as a Sharpie, so if your autographee is anticipating a smooth-flowing pen, they might be confused.
