RESOLVED: Removing glue residue on pony's nose...
« on: September 09, 2012, 09:40:20 AM »
Ok, so I bought an otherwise mint Twisty Tail. BUT, she has a blob of glue residue on her nose. I tried acetone, but that kind of made it look worse, as it lightened the edges of the glue blob a tiiiiiny bit. UGHHHHHHHHHHHH. I'm hesitant to try anything else as I don't want to make her look worse, but the OCD is making me crrrrrrrrrazy.
Has anyone had any success removing glue residue on their ponies? Any products that are good to use for this?

Thanks!
Denise

Did you use 100% acetone, or nail polish remover? 100% is what works best and should remove it.

100% Acetone...it's not budging and is hard as a rock! It's definitely some kind of crazy glue or pony glue...

How about a careful application of Goo Gone or Goof Off?

Goo Gone did nothing. I think I have Goof Off somewhere. I was wondering if anyone had some tried and true methods so I don't waste more time....

It doesnt really sound like glue if none of these methods have worked - this is going to sound odd but are you sure its not a shiny fault in the plastic itself? Sorry weird question.

Ok, Acetone did the trick! it took several applications of rubbing and washing, then finally I was able to peel it away a little at a time with my fingernail. Now, instead of a shiny, raised blob of glue on her nose, she has a dull indentation where the glue ate into the plastic. Still, this is better than the shiny pony "mole" she used to have. Thanks everyone!
