This actually brings up a good topic. Most hobbies don't really get tail feathers ruffled about bootlegs, copies, pirated or even stolen parts. I think since I joined the MLP hobby, it's the first and only ( to date ) hobby I have in which members collect the "fakies" and pay just as much for the fake ponies as they would some legit MLP merchandise.
I'm part of Den of Angels and their stance on bootleg or copies is clear. They ban people for posting pics or even listing bootleg dolls in your profile. Some would argue that doll companies are small, often under 100 employees and some even have only a handful of people. The dolls are works of art. Not mass produced like MLP or even Blythe. I say, bootlegging is bootlegging and if you are part of an online forum, follow the rules!
It's just interesting that some hobbies embrace bootlegs and copies, while others shun them and the people who chose to buy them knowingly.
edit to add: I wouldn't want to buy a copy thinking I was getting a legit item. I also like knock offs and I do buy non- name brand items. I understand sometimes quality control isn't really a main concern with non-name brand items. I agree, brand names are often more trust worthy since they have their name and reputation to protect.
Didn't mean to hijack the thread, but the morality and ethic about how to handle a knock knock off/pirate item was brought up here.
