Can't remember the title of this book!! Help!

Okay, so. Back in elematary school I checked a book out that I didn't read because my tiny brain couldn't understand it (it was in the "big kids" section of the library). I probably made it two or three chapters in before giving up.
All I remember was that this boys family was having some kind of problem, and they had just moved in to a new house. When the boy was looking through the garage or attic or something, he finds a man with wings or something like that. The book title was the winged mans name, if I remember correctly.
I know it's not a lot of information to go off of, but if anyone has any guesses, I'd appreciate it! This has been bugging me for months.

Hey, I have a book title question, too! A children's picture book about a dog who feels he is too boring. He goes to a witch for help, and in a "be careful what you wish for" twist, she gives him the body parts of many different animals, like a giraffe neck, a zebra leg, a different animal for each appendage, but I don't know the rest specifically. Then the people in town start trying to hunt him down. I forget how it ends, but he does get back to normal somehow. I loved that one, and have been trying to remember the name of it even before Discord was introduced on FiM.

Skellig!  We had a television adaptation of this book in the UK.  Im sure it was on Sky though so maybe it screened in the States?

I only just saw this thread - this is The Whingdingdilly by Bill Peet.  I love his books!

This sounds much like the 'I wish I had duck feet' book - but it was about a boy not a dog. The kid could have feet like a duck to swim better and the nose of an elephant to reach higher stuff...? And antlers too... it's being awhile to remember specific animal parts. In the end, everyone round town thought he was a freak and didn't want him around, so in the end he was happy just being himself. Was it something like that? 

But hope someone can clarify for you!

On a side-note of the mention of a dog - my mind popped with 'The Digging-est Dog' ... for some reason   Now that is a great read!
