OMG ^_^ Re: My Best Friend is Preggers!

So my friend invited me to go with her to her 1st Sonogram today. ^_^ Actually, she kinda wanted to run the other way so needed me - the baby daddy was going too, but he's kinda the quiet-in-a-corner type. She isn't very far along, but the DR. wanted to determine how far along exactly lol.

Lucky us, we got a technician who gave us a long speech about not being able to tell us anything today since she's not the actual doctor. The doctor would review it and give her a call. So they stuck a wand 'up in' my friend  and the lady started asking a billion questions of why my friend thought she was pregnant. We are thinking... oh no, she can't find anything.

So all of a sudden the daddy's jaw drops and eyes bug out - he was able to see the monitor from down near my friend's ankles while I was up near my friend's head. The technician said - "Well, I can tell you one thing..". Oh man, we are just hanging on her words! "..There's definitely a baby in there!" She swung the monitor around and I was in awe, my friend was just shocked - "OMG, OMG, OMG! That's a baby.. OMG."    LOL

I was like - "Yea, that's a baby, lookit the feet and everything! Yup that's a baby."

 It was so cool, it even moved a tiny bit. They printed her a strip of 3 photos and sent her out the door, still uttering "oh my gosh.." :P

OMG! Look at how tiny it is! Isn't it amazing that at one point in time we were all that tiny?

I wish I could have another baby!

Unfortunately, technicians can't tell you anything much but really that's just if they see something wrong.  But if there is a problem they will go get a doctor to talk to you they usually don't make you wait and call.  I'm so glad the baby is in there and doing well.  I became very attached to my son's pics.  He was my darling little blob of baby (I had a really early ultrasound bc of complications so he was a little cell cluster) .  But with this one it took a while longer for me to get excited.  I think because I've done it all once before. I hope it was an uplifting experience for her!

She seems to be doing ok, she stared at the pictures repeatedly for a few hours last night  lol.
We are both at work.. well, i just finished. So only had a few txts with her today.

But the DR. did call her and say she is 9 weeks along, and Due date is April 10th
So, 7 more months to go - I fear this thread might get pretty long before then lol.

Oh, on another note - they showed the sonogram pics to her boyfriend's mom (They live with her- renting the basement studio apartment-like space), so she finally knows about it. My friend was afraid of being kicked out. His brother is having a baby in October and announced it at their other brother's wedding last month... so that is a big drama (ruining all the bride's attention etc.) fiasco right now!
His mom just took him aside and gave him 20 questions and a speech, said she didn't know what to say about it, but I don't know all the details. One thing she said is the rest of his family is not to be told until after his brother has his baby and that fuss dies down, so they don't steal attention from his brother and sister-in-law. Am I the only one that thinks it all sounds crazy?
So sometime in October / November they will be allowed to tell his grandparents, brothers, sister, and all.  I seriously doubt people would be less excited for them if they knew about my friend's baby. :P
Such drama.

Oh well, at least that means less people telling her what to do or what she's doing wrong.

Didn't mean to turn into a rant. But yikes, hope the kid takes more after my friend's side Lol.

That sounds like a pain in the butt family. They should be able to tell whoever they want, it's good news after all. Everyone loves good news. So happy wedding + happy baby = even more happy people in my opinion. How would this little blessing encroach on their numptuals?

Some women do wait until they are out of their first trimester though.  The risk for loss is significantly less after that point so some folks wait to make it really public until then. Depending on her symptoms it might become kind of obvious. I went from a b cup to a d cup like overnight lol.

I'm so glad she has your support! I used to stare at my pictures too and imagine what the baby was doing or what he/she was like. It makes it so much more real when you can actually see them. :) I like the second round even better because then they really do just look like a little person.

I was gonna mention I was a nervous first time mom and I really liked the pampers swaddler diapers with the color change strip. That way I could just look and see ok green he needs changed, yellow he is good. Now I just tap his butt and I can tell but first starting it made it so much easier.
