Toys R Us does phone orders! (please don't abuse it)

So, I've been calling my local Toys R Us stores almost daily to check on inventory of the TRU exclusives, for friends and trading. Utah has gotten a few shipments of Zecora (6 per box), but none of the Favorite Collection w/Nightmare Moon (and I doubt they will get any at all, since they said they don't even show any on order).

They mentioned Nevada and California as the nearest places with them in stock. Crestfallen, I asked about the possibility of doing a store-to-store transfer or something. They said "sure, you can do that. This is how it works..."

WHY HAVE I NOT HEARD OF THIS BEFORE?!?!

OK, here is what I did and you can do:
Call a Toys R Us store, have them check inventory for the toy(s) you want.
Glow in the Dark 3" brushable Zecora ($9.99 each, currently on sale for Buy One Get One 40% Off, so $15.99 for 2) is TRU# 851799

Favorites Collection with Nightmare Moon ($39.99 each, $63.99 for 2) is TRU#802180

Current inventory:
Favorites:
Yuma CA has 4
Lancaster   CA 2
Bell Garderns CA   4
West LA CA 4
Monrovia CA   4
Palm Desert, Indeo   CA 4

Zecora:
Seal Beach CA 6

After you find a store that should have them, call that store and have them brought up, then ask to speak to a manager about doing a 'phone order'. The manager will take your information (items wanted, phone number, address, credit card) and then run the order (or mine called me back when the order was ready to run) and SHIP THE ITEM(S) WITH RECEIPT DIRECTLY TO YOU FOR FREE (!). I don't understand why, but that's what they did and what others said they would do.

You do have to pay local sales tax though, so I considered tracking them down in a zero or low sales tax state like Alaska or Oregon   

So, I have 4 Favorites set and 4 Zecora on the way, will update my trade/sale thread with how many will be available (I already have some overseas ppl that want some). You USA locals can all just call for yourselves (or pair up for the BOGO deal), or contact me. PM or email to [email protected] if you want.

Shenanigans, the mall TRU has the set (not sure about Zecora) and the TRU by the mall has Zecora if you are looking. At least they did this afternoon.

Actually you got lucky, we are not supposed to do phone orders but you can call the 800 number and work with them to get a ship from store.  We are not set up to bill out shipping which is why we are not supposed to do them.

I called. Zecora isn't actually available. :-(

I know you can do this with a well known book store in the UK but they offer the facility here as they are not the kind of store which is in every town - therefore they are hard to get to.

Its good that this helps people track down a pony but gosh it could be abused by scalpers I think

The thing is most stores you call are just going to tell you know.  We only are supposed to offer it if there is a guest issue in another store.  So you can try but most likely you are just gonna get told no or be given the 800 number for phone orders and be told to call that.
