Hair scent issues?

I scented the hair of a recent custom, washed it repeatedly and let it dry.
I haired the pony and let it sit over the weekend.
I come home today to find the ponies paint near the hair line and tail discolored.
Almost like a grease stain, I'd show you guys but I don't want to spoil the surprise for a member here.
Has this ever happened to anyone?
Did I not wash the hair enough?
I used a matte paint and sealant, should I touch up and use a gloss sealant?
Any help would be deeply appreciated!

Hmmmm can't say that I have any experience with that sort of problem. Could the scent you use potentially contain an oil? Would explain the grease stain. I'd think with out removing the oil, the problem would keep reoccurring, although a gloss sealant might hide the issue
