i think spain boys are marked spain under their feet. german ones have no pat pend although no pat pend not always indicates a german pony. the hat looks faded to me
there was no spanish wig wam only steamer, trucker and tex were made in spain along side the family daddy ponies the lack of a pat pand stamp does indicate he was a "german" release pony love pkw xxx
Oh the Pad Pend discussion!!! During the cross over years after Hasbro obtained their patent [1987] and when they were trying to ensure Pat Pend stamping was removed from the line, some of the same ponies find themselves released both with Pat Pend and no Pat Pend stamps. The main reason for this is the difference in time from when Ponies were released in the US and then released in Europe. For example the Big Big Brother ponies, in the US, have their Pat Pend stamps on their hooves; but this set when it reached some of Europe was launched a significant period after the US release - therefore this same set came without their Pat Pend stamps.Ponies made during the time the patent was granted are often seen in both versions, and as Europe were slightly later in getting releases then the US, Europe often got the versions without the Pat Pend, as they where made later. The fact so many Ponies without Pat Pend are found in Europe seems to have lead to the misassumption that they are therefore an indication of being a European releases - yes its true that for the ponies which had both Pat Pend and no Pad Pend, any non Pat Pend versions are most likely Euro releases but its not really accurate to say a lack of Pat Pend is an indication of course. Europe really only saw non Pat Pend versions of the US ponies because Europe received the lines later and therefore got sets which had been manufactured after the patent approval and after the Pat Pend stamp could be removed. This different in time between manufacturer means there are batch differences and you get the occasional minor shade/shape difference. As PKW says the lack of a Pat Pend stamp does not mean Euro release its all to do with timing of manufacture and release - just look at the hooves of any of the later release US ponies [such as Punzie] and you ll see no Pad Pend stamp and look under the hooves of any of the early Euro exclusives, such as Gypsy, and you ll see they have a Pat Pend stamp.
@hathorcat - i always thought its faded i believe that quarterback, 4 speed and slugger were not released in germany or austria. i have never seen them here and the german my little pony site also says that they were not released here.
