Tell me about Italians
« on: August 02, 2012, 05:50:01 PM »
I just got my first nirvana, an italian firefly (who looks rather faded to a pale pink) and the seller has other italians I could get to save on shipping.

Firefly was ten dollars with 30 dollar shipping. I had to have her though. I was wondering what your thoughts are on pricing and if it'd be worth it to buy other italians the seller has

Is it worth trying to combine shipping to get a few others?

Does the hair respond well to heat treating?

Any infor would be good, I'm a Nirvana newb v,v

Congrats on your first Nirvana  :)

I am all for combined shipping - it's my preferred way to buy in order to bring the overall cost down, as paying for one individual pony and the shipping for that one pony can work out quite expensive.

If the seller can fit in several other ponies for that same shipping quote, then I say go for it. I have to say, $30 (assuming US$$) sounds quite a lot... I guess it might depend on what country you got the pony from, or if the package is insured etc. But yeah... at that shipping price, I'd see what else you can fit into that same package lol! (esp. if the other ponies are reasonably priced  ;))  If the shipping price went up, I'd be a little more cautious. Re pony prices, maybe you could run a price check here to see if you are getting a fair deal on the other ponies you are interested in?

Re straightening (assuming that's what you mean by heat treating?) I had an Italian Medley with terrible hair. Ran her through the straighteners with lots of conditioner, and her hair is stunning now  ;)  She was the straight haired version in the first place, which I think helped with the good result.

There are a couple European countries that just have outrageous shipping prices compared to their neighbors :yikes: I would definitely try to find some other ponies to make up for the shipping (as sellers in said countries can usually ship several ponies for that price or close to it).

As for Italians in general, their pricing is all over the place. There are some Italians that are very affordable, such as Peachy, Applejack or Bowtie for example, but there are other super rare variants that break wallets into sobbing little pieces (like blue Posey or blue Lickety-Split). ;) If you're eyeing specific ones, just feel free to list them and the experts here can give you an idea of what you can expect to find them for :good: We're always happy to help~

it sounds like is it shipping with tracking which is $$$, in the UK postal prices have shot up since april, along with some places in europe. it all depends on where the seller is located and the type of shipping that is selected.

italian ponies can vary from $4 to $600 depending on the pony :) the usualy price range is $8-$25 for the regular ponies :)

$10 sounds like a fair price for firefly :bigups: she would have been bright pink when she was new. italian pink ponies are very prone to fading, the pinkness of a pony does affect its price. the pinker she is the more she will sell for :) also don't be fooled by italian white firefly, she is a faded pink pony! that is how dramatically she can fade!

be sure to check out the nirvana gallery for lots of pictures of italian and other variants

Is the seller mlpvalley in Norway? Yeah shipping from there is expensive; definitely combine if you can. She's a great seller though, very easy to deal with.
Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.
