down the collecting rabbit-hole...

I grew up collecting G1s...though, being born in the early 80s, I wasn't actively collecting them so much as receiving them as birthday presents, etc.  I LOVED those G1s and missed them so much that I started collecting G2s when they came out, even though I preferred the old pony body-type. 

When G3s came out, I was thrilled to see that they so closely resembled the G1s of my childhood, so I started collecting them but soon lost interest.  I figured that was for the best, since I already have a huge G1 LPS collection and didn't have the space/money for a serious pony collection.

Then, a few years ago, I saw Marshmallow Cocoa for the first time and absolutely fell in love.   

I researched the other winter ponies and decided that I would just collect holiday/seasonal G3s (MIB/MOC only, too!), which would keep my collection limited.  Since the G3 collection is so huge, I figured this would be a safe way to collect and limit myself...

But I keep coming across more G3s that I'm falling in love with!!  I recently received MIB Forsythia in the mail and ADORE her...and when I started looking at the other sparkle ponies in her line, I decided I need them too.

And now I feel like I'm totally spiraling into collecting G3s in general!!  It's a great thing, of course, but where am I going to put all these??    My husband has been very sweet about all of the boxes that keep arriving on our doorstep, but maybe I ought to pace myself.

LOL I know how you feel. I think that G3 ponies are so cute I got back into ponies a few months back and went from 15 ponies to over 100 ponies!!  The mail person must think that I am nuts........LOL

He should love you as you are keeping him/ her in their job, I am sure I pay enough in postage to cover at least on posties yearly wave lol

no back onto the topic, you aren't alone, I think g3s are cute to and cause they are so cheap I cant help but buy them all ; )

I love G3's... It's hard to stop buying them because they are so cute! Plus you have all thsoe special lines that make them cuter like the 3D cutie marks!

I can't give you much advice other than to keep them packed away and take them out once a month, throw them in a big pile and roll in it! Boy that would be fun....

YES!! I have to do this now!

I just got my second G3 in the mail today. I got her from daizy18 and I just love her. I think G3s are great because there are so many different colors. I have so many PINK ponies with my G4s but both of my G3s are lovely bright colors. I can completely understand getting lost in them.

Enjoy your trip down the rabbit hole! I'm in sort of a G3 mode right now too. I had most of the first and second year ponies, then sold half of them a couple of years ago. I'm so glad I still have half of my collection left, but now I'm tracking down the ones I used to have. And that keeps opening doors showing me ponies I didn't have before but MUST have them now!

I do this with G3 all the time I vow to only have a handful of them and then I spot another one which I "completely forgot" about and now of course must have!

I know sometimes we moaned about good old Hasbroken during G3 but I seriously miss the variety and thought that they put into that line in the early years.

Lol! When my mail-lady found out it was ponies in all those packages -she offered to sell me the porcelains she had sitting around her house! I got 5 porcelains from her for $40. - She was gonna give them to me for $20 - but I gave her $40 so I could sleep at night.

That's a pony for you...kinda like potatoe chips we just cant be satisfied with one...we end up wanting the entire bag ...it's the same with any generation...

G1's and G3's are my favorite.  I prefer the early G3's though, when there was more variety.  I think I like G3's because of the variety like G1's had.  I was born in 1984 and wasn't into MLP as much.  I collected G1 LPS mostly and barbies.  I had about 7 ponies when I was a kid.  I did love the TV series and MLP tales.  I fell out of the pony loop when I was around 13 years old.  Then, I saw a commercial for Cotton Candy Cafe and was excited MLP was around again.  I'm not entirely impressed with G4's.  I do watch the TV show because it's MLP on TV.  I am not a die-hard fan of G4's but I do like a few.  I just miss the early days of G3's.   The ponies were bigger and the price was reasonable.  Now, the ponies are smaller and cost more.
