Oddball Pretty Beat variant?
« on: July 24, 2012, 10:43:18 PM »
I came across an unusual Pretty Beat in a lot I bought off ebay.  She has a blue tail but a purple mane, so seems a cross between the U.S. version and the European release.  She came in a lot of ponies that included both U.S. and European releases, so I suspect she was purchased in Europe by an American family living overseas.  She doesn't appear to have had her head removed and the lot was from a non-collector.  She seems a legitimate oddball to me--any thoughts?

Here is a picture (sorry it's just a quick shot I snapped for a sales posting and you can't see the color difference really well):

Both the blue and purple haired versions where sold in Europe (confirmed via MOCs), so it could be a head or tail swap. Does she rattle?

i would have thought head/tail swap as well, if she still has her head on and tail in place then she may be a factory error.

The blue & purple haired versions have slightly different body colors, the purple haired is darker. So a head swap wouldn't work too well.

Thanks for the info!  I think she might be a little darker, although I have no blue-haired one to compare her with.  Her head is definitely on tight and she does not rattle, so I think she must be a factory error.  Darker color would jive with the purple mane--I bet they just gave her the other tail color.

One thing to note on the purple haired Pretty Beats, is that I've actually seen them in BOTH body colour versions as well. I do have a pic kicking around somewhere, but it's not great, and is quite old (I no longer own the brighter one, but she was the same colour as the blue haired Pretty Beat)

I think she's a factory error. I have a Baby Starbow that is like that - she has a purple streak in the mane but she has blue in the tail. I bought her from new myself so I know she came from the factory like that. So this kind of mix-ups did happen.

Agbluh... weakness for Rockin' Beats and Dazzleglow...

She's certainly a fun variant whatever she is. I had no idea there were two colours of Pretty Beat in the first place!
