Have a quick question, I got a lot of g3s in and I received two cotton candy ponies in the same pose but with obviously different blue hair streaks...is this some variation I do not know about?

I don't know, I'm no good with G3's
She does look pretty with the inverted stripes though.

Some of the G3s can be pretty prone to minor shade differences in colour not to mention as LBS says just poorly threaded hair. I would guess a factory variant! Very cool - congrats
