Rerooting cams.
« on: July 28, 2012, 06:22:38 PM »
I have just started rehairing on my cam heads and it is so much fun!
Though I am concerned on how to reroot when the hole is in the middle?
Any advice?

I just rooted around the hole as I was going to put her hair up in a pony tail anyway but I know others just put an extra extra large bit of hair in there before gluing everything in place :) hopefully someone with more experience will come and provide some better advice though

I think someone has drilled little holes in it for hairplugs. Or used a hot needle to melt the plastic.

I've rooted 2 and I just work around the hole. There's soooo much hair that it covers it anyway and to make sure it does I pour boiling water over her head to keep it where I want it -- with some of it brushed back and over that hole.

I've been working this problem out myself. So far I have a pretty good feel for it. I use a 1/16 drill bit to put holes into the plastic. Careful though the drill will try to dance a little. After that you start at the back I use a double plug in each of the holes I made. First i put a drop of GEL super glue in the hole, then put in the hair. It keeps it really very snug. After thats done but a bit in the middle hole just like a ponies tail. Don't get too thick though. Then re-root as usual. Seems to take about 2 full hanks to do 1 cam head. Still working out the kinks though. Hope this helps. I'll post pics soon of ones done with this.
