Poor Peachy...
« on: July 27, 2012, 12:28:34 PM »
I am in the process of packing for a move, so I'm loading up lots of stuff to donate to the thrift store.  Of course, while I'm there I can't resist checking the toy section, and today I saw a Peachy My Pretty Pony staring up at me!  I grabbed her since I've never actually come across the Peachy one before (only Butterscotch), but she's in rough shape.  She is actually in such poor condition that they gave her to me for free because they'd normally throw her in the trash!     She has a big spot where her plastic is cracked open near where her tail was.  I know I can't restore her to looking like new, but has anyone ever restored a My Pretty Pony just to the point where she's displayable, even if it simply means making a costume for the pony that hides the damage?  Her mechanism still works so I'd hate to see her get thrown out!

Aww poor thing! Get some photos up if you can and I'm sure the restoration army can give you a hand. If her mechanism already works then that's great. I've never seen one of those in the flesh, so I'm not too much use here. With measurements I could probably make her some leather armour to cover the hole in her bum.

I have fixed a few before- I would need to see a photo of the damage but I bet you can fill the crack with apoxie scupt, sand it smooth then match her body color and paint over it. its a bit of a challenge to be sure and you do need a good eye to match the color but it can be done.

Oh gosh - poor my pretty pony! However, at least she has found a rescuer in you so I guess she is also a very fortunate pony! You ll need to post before and after pics of her recovery :)

Maybe you could make her a saddle blanket or a dress that would cover the hole? Without pictures it's hard to say. She originally came with a purple saddle blanket, so maybe you could just find her original accessory somewhere and it would cover it up.

Crack filling is the easy part, it would be trying to match up a way of getting the colour that would be difficult. I have repaired quiet a few resins/plastic toys in my time. So would love to see photos and see if I could help out.
