This is due to miss_tuneful and her ADORABLE little girlie with the bird... Are those characters from anything or are they just adorable all by themselves? hehe

Luckily I already had a Nendoroid! This actually is a conveniently timed want, since my friends keep asking what I want for my birthday and I've been wanting a Miku Hatsune one for a while now. 

Anywho! Back on subject, the one I have is Konata from Lucky Star. She's super cute and she comes with accessories and different faces but I don't know where they are right now. She unfortunately falls apart very easily.

To answer the question: YES that nendo is from an anime called Dog Days, and the character's name is Millhiore F. Biscotti

I have 3 atm, and have a few on my wantlist ^^' it's nice 'cause it's a collection I can co-lab with David, unlike my BJD obsession x)

I have (my first) a HMO Miku who also falls apart quite easily - she's a very nicely done bootleg (I didn't know until I dissected her a bit lol) but she also has a habit of falling apart.

I'm fairly certain she's authentic since I got her MIB in the original packaging. Her legs just don't seem to want to stay attached, I think it's because of her skirt. She also came with a tail and cat ears, and they just don't stay in at all. *shrug* It's not that big of a deal, but she's not very sturdy either so if she falls over she falls apart that's why i don't touch her much.

Bootlegs can come in original packaging. That's how I got my Snow Miku (wasn't even sure she was real or bootleg until I opened her).
If you look at the joints, you can usually fairly easily see if it's a bootleg or the real deal - lemme grab some photos for ya;

HOW TO SPOT A FAKIE:

Start with the box art.
Snow Miku box is bootleg, Append in the real deal.

and compare to this one. it's too saturated, and a bit blurred (like an old pre-2000 colour home printer print!)
the art on the bootleg boxes are often too saturated and look like someone cranked up Brightness/Contrast a bit too much.

JOINTS. Look at the neck plugs. the D: face is bootleg, the normal face is real.

see how the plug and head are made of different kinds of plastic? They're even slightly different in colour.

no, the pantsy aren't the way to see if it's real - look at her hip/thigh joint. it's almost yellow. this is very common with bootlegs. the joints are always made of the same plstci as the rest of the nendo with real ones

I have Flandre (Touhou), Kuroneko (Oriemo), Arwen (Tears to Taria), Mio, Yui, Ritsu and Tsumugi (K-ON). I love them. They are cute and a bit more interactive than just collecting anime figures.

Also, to add to Shaiyeh's nice post... I love myfigurecollection.com They often have good photos of bootleg nendos and you can compare photos to the actual product. Nendos should pretty much always look like the prototype photos.

The wonderful boyfriend picked up Homura for me at last springs AB.
Now I'm hooked, placed a pre-order on the Black Rock Shooter TV edition and am trying to hunt down a squid girl...

ooooh I've been drooling over 10th anniversary saber since she was announced...so cute!  I missed out on the normal edition, but the anniversary one is just too expensive...

Maybe I'll track the normal one down at a con someday.  *sigh*
