Anyone work with wooden boat models? I need help!
« on: July 09, 2012, 01:31:09 PM »
I was given the task of completing a model boat my cousin lost the instructions to  >_< It has nothing on it to identify a brand or anything so I can't even find a finished picture of it to go by. On top of that, I've never put any sort of model together, short of a paper house about ten years ago! I have no clue what I'm doing but it's a really pretty boat and it would look so good in the living room when it's finished.

Here's some pictures. I hope someone can at least identify it and give me something to go off of! All I have is my webcam so they're not the best pictures though, sorry.

And it's almost 5' tall. I'm 5'1 or 2, and it comes up to my chin when I set it on the floor! All the strings seem tangled and it's just a mess. Help!

To my unknowing eye, that looks pretty finished, just needs the sails tying? A google image search for 'model boat kit wood' leads me to a picture of the Corsaro II, a regatta yacht. Searching for regatta yacht on the end of the other search term gets me to : visitors can't see pics , please register or login
which is the most similar type I can find, it's called a monotype. Hopefully that'll give you enough to get an idea where the sails tie once you untangle the strings.

Wow, the wood on it looks great. I'm sure you'll be able to get it untangled and fixed up properly.

Maybe try a model/hobby store, if you have one locally?

I have no clue, but I'll bump this up the page some so more people can see it and possibly offer you some help. :)
