I'm sorry, but being thin gives you privilege. There is no 'thin shaming', but rather 'negative body image'. No one should hate their body, or be made to hate their body. But being thin still gives you privilege. Sorry, when you can afford clothes in your size, it's a privilege. DX

That being said, I don't mind the skinnier Ursula. It probably really is a mold thing. And more material. DX

A few have mentioned this, but I think that these dolls are all based on the same pieces, and therefore, it's cost-effective to make Ursula shaped like all the rest. Their face/head molds are probably the only thing they don't share.

I would have been thrilled to see a "larger" Ursula doll, however. It would be a very unusual thing among dolls, and pleasantly so.

I would love an accurate sized Ursula and Red Queen. But I think those would be crazy prices.

Can I say, I'm glad they didn't make Ursula look all young though. That is a good thing right?

Though you all have to understand why it can cause negative body image. (Though Ursula isn't quite a good example??) Doll though are not the medium to attack when it comes to fat shaming. It really IS a material thing. Clothing lines are where you need to attack. Bridal boutiuqes. It's literally $300 dollars more between a size 14 and a size 16. If it's a material thing, then why don't we increase the price with each size?

But that's getting off topic again. DX

although I like the look of the doll itself, I do not like that they made ursula look like damn barbie. She was not skinny in the movie

Yes it is.

This is a FINAL WARNING to everyone - this is a thread about the dolls - not about body shapes/images/etc. Stay on topic or this thread will be locked.

I'm not much of a doll collector but I think these are pretty cute. I'm especially liking the Evil Queen doll. I actually like her better than her original design.

I'm not sure I'd know that was supposed to be Ursula if I just saw a picture of her somewhere. The first thing that popped in my head was the bride of Frankenstein : / Yay for Disney villain love all the same!

I have a lot to say about the skinny-shaming debate, but due to the mod intervention in this thread, I'll take my remaining thoughts on that to The Pony Forum Which Shall Not Be Mentioned. Short version: Skinny-shaming DOES exist. I've seen it, and I've experienced it firsthand. 'Nuff said.

Anywho. I'm not a huge fan of the new Ursula, but it's due to the reasons Shockponie brought up...the drawing is pretty, the doll is not. The dress is very poorly executed, it doesn't have any of the elegance of the concept drawing, and her face is too angular. They should kept her face a bit more rounded, I think. I don't have any problem with her having a normal Barbie body though. Maybe she just pulled an Oprah and lost a whole bunch of weight. :P

I think these are gorgeous!  And even though they are stylized and look completely different... I still find myself seeing them as the same character as in the movies themselves.  I can still imagine Ursula's voice coming out of that thin frame somehow... and the doll's actual face... so creepy and perfect!  Wow!  I won't be buying because i cannot afford them, but I really like them!
