Color Comparison List?

Forgive me if there's some giant sticky regarding this that I somehow missed over, but I'm curious if there is one already in existence, or if it would interested collectors in compiling a list of pony color (I'm focusing solely on G4 ponies as they're still fairly limited in number, though perhaps collectors of other Gens would be interested in new threads for each generation). Personally speaking, I try to have as wide a variety as possible in color when it comes to bringing in new ponies, though sometimes it can be difficult to tell just exactly what color a pony is from the screen (haha, I was actually the one who asked what color Cupcake was in another thread!). Heck, half the time Twilight Sparkle looks deep purple and the other time light purple...I'm starting to wonder if they sell different colored versions of her??

Either by posting pictures or simply confirming body colors, I think would be extremely helpful! For example, Honybuzz and AppleJack (yes), Cupcake and Pinkie Pie (no, Cupcake is darker), DewDrop Dazzle and Snowcatcher (unknown), Star Swirl and Rainbow Dash (unknown), Plumsweet and Diamond Rose (yes), etc.

Are other collectors interested in this type of thing, or am I just a weirdo in trying to limit how many pony colors I bring in?

As for your examples - Dewdrop Dazzle and Snowcatcher - no, Snowcatcher is a bit more green, but if you switch heads difference would be no bigger that usual G4 head/body mismatch.
Star Swirl and Rainbow Dash - no, Star Swirl is darker and a different shade.

I have almost all the G4 ponies except for international ones, so I could compare them to you. I display them by color, and I also have a good eye for color. I'm not sure how subtle of color varieties you want though.

Blue: Dewdrop Dazzle and Snow Catcher are almost exactly the same color, but Snow Catcher is slightly more on the green side and darker.  It's very hard to tell though. Rainbow Dash is more sky blue. Unsure about Star Swirl.

Green: Lyra Heartstrings is the only currently released green pony.

Yellow: Fluttershy and Applebloom are the same yellow.

Orange: Scootaloo and Applejack are the same. Honeybuzz is extremely close, but with a tiny bit more yellow.

Pink: This one is hard because there are a LOT of pink ponies. Pinkie Pie, Cherry Pie, Lulu Luck, Twinkle Shine, and Ploomette are all the same pink. Sweetie Swirl is a tiny bit darker, and Starbeam Twinkle is slightly more brighter/saturated. Star Dreams (filly) is light pink and so is Celestia. Unsure about Skywishes, but she looks about the same as the majority of pink ponies. I'll let you know because I'm getting her in the mail soon.

Purple: Every purple pony is different (Cupcake, Cheerilee, Feathermay, Flitterheart, Twilight Sparkle, Lily Blossom, Luna, and Daisy Dreams). Not sure about Rainbow Flash, but she's coming in the mail soon so I'll let you know. Cupcake is actually purplish pink because she has a very faint amount of blue.

White: Plumsweet, Diamond Rose, Blossomforth, Rarity, and Sweetiebelle are all the same white.

Gray: Fashion Style Ditzy Pony is the only gray pony.

At this point, I am not sure if there are very many color repeats for the plastics/hair used to create the ponies. There are a lot of pink/purple ponies but they tend to be different shades for the most part.

I did color matching for all the unofficial ponies, where I compared them to existing releases. I would like to do this for official ponies, too. The trouble is with some of the strange color variants. There's alternate Diamond Roses and Plumsweets, and it's really hard to tell what color they are looking at pictures only.

There are a few different sources out there - the "by colour" on strawberryreef.com being one of the most comprehensive...I think the mylittlewiki also organises ponies by colour and ponylandpress has a colour chart for G1 hair.

I think its a cute idea to perhaps do a pony colour chart - I am sure it would be of interest to others.

Star Swirl and Trixie are both different shades of blue than Rainbow Dash and Dewdrop Dazzle. Star Swirl has a hint of red/purple tone and Trixie is a deeper blue.

Oh! Thank you for the link! I certainly would love to see any photos anyone would be willing to share, especially from those of ya'll with such extensive collections to get quite a few comparisons in one shot! I love seeing how these ponies that "look the same" all really do have their own unique personalities and styles...or maybe I'm just a huge dork
