Blueberry muffin DH
« on: June 23, 2012, 05:59:05 AM »
I know the color Blueberry muffin is sold out everywhere and I need a color as close to that as I can get. So, what colors do you think I could blend together to get that greyish blue color? I don't mind hand blending stuff to get the color I need I am just wondering which colors I should order to get something similar, any thoughts?

KB- I will have to check the DH trade thread and see what I can find, thanks!

Alatariel- Do you think if I mixed a creamy white into that, it may look lighter?

it probably would, I have one I'm working on right now that I've got it mixed with Bobby blue, poison ivy and envy, it's pretty vibrant then, I don't have a creamy color to try mixing it with

You might have better luck dyeing lighter-colored hair than trying to create a blend.  I custom-dyed a batch of a similar color for a custom Columbian-style Applejack.  Unfortunately I don't remember the exact colors I used, but a dilute solution of blue Rit dye works nicely.  I heat a cup of water in a glass measuring cup in the microwave to boiling, then add a pinch or two of the dye powder.  Stir well, then dunk the hair all at once while the water is still hot.  The heat helps set the dye, and conditioning the hair beforehand gives a nice texture that doesn't pick up the dye too fast if you are trying for a lighter color.  You can dunk the hair longer or multiple times until it is the shade you want.

Yeah I thought about using dye too, I haven't ever done it before so that's why I was wondering about blending the hair. I think I might have to try that though! Thanks for the info :)

I'd opt for dyeing too - it is SUCH a unique colour (one of my favourites!) that no other blues in the DH range really come close, even with blending :/ xx

Here is my Sindy in Blueberry Muffin - if you click through you will find my (long since ended) link to her from when she was on Ebay - there are lots of pics on the auction description if you wanted to see the colour in all different lights!!

That color is even better then I thought when I saw it on DH! Ugh, why does it have to be sold out? Well looks like using dye is going to be the best option! Thanks everyone :)
