I came home last night and my partner started telling me a story.
It seems my mother-in-law was visited by her husband's daughter and her children. One was a 12 year old and started talking about My Little Pony over the table. And my MIL (bless her heart, I love her!) says "Oh, yes, I'm very familiar with My Little Pony." (Of course, thanks to me!) And then proceeds to say her favorite is Twilight Sparkle. And then they look at pictures of ponies online and talk about their favorite episodes, and the girl says "I have all of them (I think the mane 6) except Pinkie Pie." MIL says, "Oh, you need Pinkie Pie? I can get you a Pinkie Pie!" because this child is from a small Ohio town and apparently the girl was bowled over, with "YOU CAN!?!" and my MIL said, "Oh yes, I have a connection."
The connection being me. Unfortunately I don't have a spare Pinkie but I'm more than happy to pick one up for them!
I just thought that was so cute. The girl was SO excited an adult, a grandma even, could know Ponies. My MIL thinks it's neat that I collect ponies and it gave her a certain cachet among the tween set for a night.
