And there's not as much PINK.  Pink isn't my favorite color, but I don't really have a problem with it.  But there's just....too MUCH of it now.  Nearly all girl toy packaging is primarily pink.  It's just a sea of pink.  It's jarring to the eye and my artist's brain doesn't like it.

Here in Canada the girl's aisle in two of our department store chains (Zellers and Walmart, if anyone's familiar), actually has a pink sign edged with silver glitter placed above the aisle that says "Walk the Pink Carpet" and a long pink decal along the floor of the aisle to look like a runway, I guess? I'm every bit a girly girl (And a lolita), but even I find it obnoxious. I would squeal aloud with joy if we could go back to the more 'gender-neutral' feeling of the above images.

There is no pink in those pictures, and it is magical.

I-..Is that...Blue pony Nightlight? AM I SEEING THINGS?

It looks like BowTie to me, but I most certainly could be wrong!! Can someone confirm if it is or are we forever going to wonder and drool? XD
I thought that at first, but she just looks SO SO BLUE.. xD
Silly wishful thinking.  :(

My favorite thing about the G1 packaging is that the background colors are primarily BLUE and GREEN!

They kind of forgot about that, didn't they?

Agreed about the colour - there's far too much pink in the "girl's" section of the toy store nowadays.  Even with the G2s the packaging was mainly blue or yellow.  Bring back the diversity, HAsbro!

Almost drives you to want to be a MOC collector, just to recreate this level of awesome (If anyone ever did that... just, wow).

I know, right??  Ditto!

Also, I agree about the super-pinkness of the modern girls' toy aisle...it's too overwhelming and bubbly.  There was something much more charming about older toys and their packaging.

:lmao:  Sorry that caught me just right.  And I agree!  For me it's not as much a thing about gender, but about "ARGH ENOUGh PINK I WANT MORE COLORS"  lol

And being partial to rainbows, I want those back too...

Yes, blue for the sky, I imagine, because of the outside-oriented artwork on most of the G1 backcards.

Don't worry, I appreciate a good laugh, even if it's someone laughing at me! (And I find it quite complimentary, actually) That's what happens when you walk around dressed like a cupcake on a regular basis XD .

I don't see it as a gender thing either. If all the marketing for girls suddenly switched to blue (Or any other colour), and everything was blue all the time, I still wouldn't like it. Pushing one colour on girls (Or boys, or anything in between) feels oppressive, and I hate that.

I will admit that probably 70% of  the time I choose pink when buying things, but I want the option not to. And as far as the girls like pink thing goes, when I was a kid, all the girls liked blue (And I myself was in favour of green). Even now, nobody else likes pink XD . Pink's not even my favourite colour, actually! I like white. But thanks to societies pressures that the girliest colour is pink, I can't help but identify with pink.

Ahhem, anyhow, I also agree with you on the rainbows. Whatever silly little person suggested "Hey, let's get rid of the rainbows on the pony packages!" ought to have their head examined (I of course mean this playfully). I mean, since when have magical ponies not been related to rainbows?

so, one of you have developed a time machine right?  I kind of really want to go back in time and buy some stuff right about now.
