Wishlists-How do you organize yours?
« on: June 04, 2012, 01:48:30 PM »
So aside form doing the standard write/type a list of names, do you guys do anything else to keep track of what you're after? I'm trying to organize one for the fair so I don't forget to look for certain things.

I was thinking I probably need pictures with names and then maybe separate the generations out too. Probably also a check box next to each for when I find them.

I have several Excel spreadsheets.  What I want is grouped by country, with ones I already have moved to the bottom of its section and highlighted green, ponies I have bought and am waiting on are highlighted in pink, and ponies I'm enquiring about are done in blue.  I have columns that show where I got each pony, what I paid, an average price, average condition, notes on the condition of the one I bought, and things of interest.

I also have a spreadsheet for playsets and accessories, but I don't highlight those, I just put YES in the next column to show I have it.  I keep adults separated from babies and generations separated out (though I really only collect G1).  My master spreadsheet has pictures of my actual ponies linked to it.

My list for the Fair isn't nearly as complicated, it's just a spreadsheet divided by set and only showing the ones I need.

Other than the general "all combs and brushes I must have rule" I seem to live by, I am down to about 20 or so items which I am on the constant and desperate hunt for with a selection of others being "I ll get them eventually or when I finally get a trade list sorted". Because I have been looking for them all for so long - they are ingrained on my memory!

But in seriousness for G1, I find US, Euro, Wear, Accessories, Playsets and separating them into these 5 categories used to help me. An excel spreadsheet with one column with the item, the second column with a description [perhaps colour] and then the third with a tick box is always helpful.

Poorly.  :P  Actually, there's a link in my signature but basically it is divided by generation.  The G1s are then divided by type (unicorn, baby, etc) the G2s by year, and the G3s not at all because the list is quite short.  Then I also have a list of merchandise that I'm looking for which isn't very complete at all because I love merch and will pick up just about anything that strikes my fancy and isn't a puzzle.

A few years back we took a list of names... And it was very difficult in the heat of the moment when we were hunting. So pics or descriptions are a great idea. Also it's nice to have a price guide in mind so you know how much you willing to spend for each item so you don't let yourself run a crazy muck in the excitement of the moment.

We organize by generation and then in sub category by most wanted to least wanted I think. Then just scoped good deals or goodies we weren't expecting. I got a remco sea pony that was t die for.
I'm not really on here anymore. Email me if you need my for something.

I have these very elaborate lists of what I own pony and accessory wise, but my wanted lists are just names.  I have not really taken the time to put the year, the country and the type of pony with my stuff. Don't think I ever will as my wanted list of ponies is really shrinking now.  I am just about done purchasing ponies as I am happy with what I have.

Mine is separated by generation and then by type (adult, baby, princess, etcetera) with my highest wants on a mall list at he top.  My g3 and g4 want lists are very short so here isn't much order to em.  :)

Mine has columns for the year, then the set, then the pony's name if I have it (or a blank space if I don't).  I don't really worry about accessories so much because I have so few.

I made a checklist.  : D   One for US ponies, one for US accessories (still working on fleshing that one out), and I will be making one for foreign release ponies, Nirvanas, OOAK ponies and playsets, and foreign accessories.  C:

And then I go on to other generations.  LOL

My wishlist is grouped by set and then name, and I highlight the ones I'm really looking out for. I have a pretty intense memory when it comes to collecting so I haven't put any pictures in my wishlist.  :nerdy:

My collection list is a lot more detailed, with year, set, name, condition, and where I got her from, etc  ^.^ I haven't catalogued my accessories, though--I'm afraid of that box
