So I was going to ship a pony for a trade today, but I just missed the mailman.    I've already paid for and printed the shipping label. Will they still take it even if I don't send the package on the date printed on the label? Or do I have to get a new label and wait till Monday?

They will still take it.
I know a few times they yelled at my fiance once for that sort of thing, but they still take it. And I never get yelled at for it, lol. (My post office workers are so nice to me).

I think you should be ok.  My mailman picks up my stuff to and he has never said anything to me when I have done that.
 
But once I printed out an International Priority label and it was a couple days before I mailed it and the Post Office would not take it because the time stamp was stale.  I think it was just because it was Priority though.   
 
But I honestly think you'll be ok.  If not they will just have you cancel the label and print a new one.

I think you'll be fine and they should take it , as long as it isnt priority or express (since the timing will be out on those)

It is a priority label, sadly...
Guess I'll just stick it in the mailbox and see what happens. :x I'll only have myself to blame if it doesn't work out.

As long as it's under 13 oz, dropbox/mailbox is ok.  More than that and they'll return it to you or refuse to take it.  People at my last job used to do that kinda thing, mailman would bring it back every time lol.  I always found it amusing, they'd return it, but they always brought it back the next day...I'm sure it went through their post office, why didn't they just take it lol.

If you print the label online, the post office will waive that "13 oz or more has to be taken to the post office" rule. Because they have a record of who made the label so they can track you down if you tried to mail something dangerous.

At my office we print all our postage off usps.com and the mailman always takes our boxes when we leave them by the mailbox. Also I have printed labels and then gotten the package off a few days later, the post office doesn't seem to care.
