Help! Mold...on the inside of my poor pony!
« on: June 08, 2012, 06:26:18 AM »
My Glow N' Show, Dazzleglow, has had one too many baths and she got water trapped inside her legs. I got her all dried out but she has mold on the inside of her body. Normally this wouldn't be a huge deal but she is a Glow N' Show and I can see it! . Is there anything I can do for her?

Pipe cleaners in the legs! Tiny toothbrush. Ummm...bit of cloth/tissue wrapped around a straw or something :)

What Yuitsu said.  I had mold in my sparkle ponies, and rust, and I took pipe cleaners to them.  I also used bamboo skewers with paper towel or a small thin cloth wrapped around the end and used that to get into all the corners.  It worked well, but you'll be at it a long time, just to warn you.  I also used boiling water to help loosen it all so a very small 'scratch/scrub' was needed to remove it.  Good luck!

I haven't ever taken a pony's head off. I am so scared!

Edit: I held my breath and went for it! It popped right off with no damage. Phew!

Check out the sticky thread at the top of the Corral there are loads of tips on restoration...

As for removing the head - run her neckseam under really really warm water and it should loosen the glue enough for you to twist and pop it of - you may need to keep it really warm for quite sometime or repeat the exercise but it should work on most ponies.

I find boiling in baking soda helps. That way when you pull them out to scrub, you're got some baking soda left that helps!
