Made by...what?

I posted the other day that I bought a sack full of ponies. Well last night I sat down and brushed each and every one, and did some closer inspection. One of the ponies was a Brush 'n Grow Ringlets. She was in wonderful condition, aside from being a bit dirty. I looked at her hooves, and it said made by Hasbro Bradley. Hasbro Bradley? What on earth is going on with this pony?

She's legit. Some say just Hasbro, some say Hasbro Bradley... I know there's someone else that can explain the correlation between the two companies and what times they both were producing ponies under that name...

Thanks for that. my Ringlets was the first I've ran across that said made by Hasbro Bradley, and it threw me off

There are a few that have that stamp. I just don't remember what time frame in production... Good question! (I wondered about that as well when I got my Hasbro Bradley pony...)

In about 1984 Hasbro took over Milton Bradley - they were predominantly a board game company [think Connect 4, Twister, Guess Who, Candyland, Hungry Hippos, that kind of thing - all these games were originally "MB Games" but are now Hasbro Games]. The takeover was largely to allow HB to expand this side of their business.

Hasbro kept the MB brand for much of the 90s for their board games if I remember but a decade later they have pretty much rebranded everything to their parent identity of Hasbro Games.

For 2 years after the take over Hasbro rebranded themselves to Hasbro Bradley but in 1986 they dropped the Bradley part of it - therefore there are a couple of years of ponies some of whom find themselves branded Hasbro or Bradley rather than just Hasbro.

Lol....history lesson over for the day!


Edit: I should add that the above are the years of business activity - because of the nature of toy manufacture some toys which were made at the same time or just after the dropping of the Bradley element of the name still have Hasbro Bradley on them simply as they would have been in production at the time.
