I need Pony Help....
« on: April 21, 2012, 03:43:19 PM »
I am buying some G1s soon off ebay  but I am not sure of what kind of spots...stains Etc to look for.
(Since I only own 3 G1s )
I only know about tail rust and discoloration

Sorry if I sound stupid but I am just getting in-to collecting G1s so I don't know what to look for
Everything has to be about 20% cooler ^_^

Look closely at the pics, I always look out for haircuts, pen marks, any other marks (hair colour can come off onto ponies, as can the colouring from saddles, bridles, ponywear, even newspapers or whatever the pony was wrapped up in) cancer, pindot mold, hair frizz, chew marks, and paint rubs. But it all depends on how good a condition you want your ponies to be in. I can sort out pindot, minor marks and frizzy hair, and I'm Ok with small hair trims and paint rubs, but I don't like my ponies to have huge non-removable marks like pen, cancer etc. But that's just me on my collection, everyone is different.

If in any doubt ask the seller. A good seller won't mind a couple of questions and will be happy to help you. Remember though that some sellers aren't collecters and won't have a clue how long the ponies manes or tails are supposed to be, and won't know what pindot is or that pen marks are a bad thing!

Pinamena has pretty much covered the key points...but you should also always ask for more pictures if you are ever unsure. A lot of sellers will only include one main picture [understandably with ebays extra bolt on charges] but asking to be emailed or for a link to extra pictures is always a good idea...make sure to get a picture of either side of the pony [without the mane in the way], front, back, from above and from underneath...cover all those bases! If a seller ever seems reluctant to give you a picture from a certain angle or any pictures at all that tends to give me a worry point!

Good luck adding to your G1 collection....
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
