More info on this Dutch/Belgian G1 Carry Case?
« on: July 30, 2012, 12:30:37 PM »
Hey guys,
so, I just came back from the thrift store where my loot of the day was a G1 Carry case. It is my first one and I´ve never seen any in person before so I pretty much don't know anything about them (except that they are cool :D), but when I went online to find a bit more I noticed that mine was different from most cases pictured.
On My Little Wiki I find a picture of the one that looks the same as mine, and it's Greek. However mine is, hmm, made in Italy but for a Belgian company and for a Dutch company (says so on the bottom), it has both Dutch and French on it. I'm basically a bit confused as to the rarity of this case? Is this look a general European release then? Because it's quite different from the one MLW says is UK but identical to the Greek one (just with different languages):

There are about 5 or 6 designs of them I think and most European countries got them in their own language.

They are quite rare and hard to find in good condition (either the "tray" is missing of the closing mechanism has broken off) but there is not much of a market for them, so that affects the price.

There do seem to be the odd variation from country to country - probably down to different licensing and Hasbro offering up standard stock art which different countries could adapt as suited their preference. Hence why you can sometimes get frankenstein combinations of different licensees, different artwork and different finishes.

However, as Sebby says, a lot of them were either well used or of dubious quality as they dont tend to show up in perfect condition too often.

I think the shipping is what keeps their price low often on sales. They can be tough to price as often when for sale they are being sold along with ponies - I have seen them as low as a couple of $ and as high as $25 so its a pretty wide market largely influenced by condition and the price of end shipping.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

It is one of those things where even though it is rare it is not high priced.  It is a way cool find and you shall have to post some photos of yours.
