Where specifically in Africa? I have some connections in Rwanda if that's of any use. I'm not sure how likely pony finds would be there, however, as they had a bloody civil war going on in the 90's and it's a rather poor country. Any families that stayed in the area during the genocide probably didn't have the expendable income to spend on ponies, and the ones who did have money relocated to Europe (Belgium, especially). Sadly, many African countries are in similar circumstances with a lot of diaspora and emigration/migration. And then of course there are refugees in camps who have fled the famines in the Horn of Africa and those who have escaped more current wars in places like Darfur. In the latter case, these people have no possessions because their villages were burned to the ground and they had to leave with the clothes on their backs. I think that's probably why South Africa is relatively pony-abundant compared to other African countries. S.A. has had its share of problems, but for the most part the post-apartheid adjustment has not necessitated hasty flight out of the country.
