So how do -you- start a marri-go-round pony?
« on: March 24, 2012, 03:34:40 PM »
Other than drawing the idea XD I have one pony that I can turn into a MGR Pony but I'm not sure how to even start the saddle part. I've tried to do one before but yeah didn't work well and had to strip the pony... I don't want to have to do this with this pony so, tips? Mostly I have to do the saddle to fill in holes and with this kind of pony I thought it would be cute XD

I'd love to see your guys' wip pics and starting pics too if possible c:

I've got a handful of collector's pose ponies that I'm going to do this with, mainly because they're the reissued ones with the super hard bodies and I don't want to deal with rehairing them.  My plan is to de-hair them, and sketch the outlines of the saddle and bridle on the body in pencil.  Then I'll fill in the lines with air dry clay.  I'll do sculpted manes and tails, and paint the whole she-bang.

I don't have a clue on this one!  I know there are some carousel artists out there--hopefully one of them will see this!

Well I had a bait Tropical Sea Breeze once and I needed her wings for another custom - so I had her lying around with holes in her body for ages.

Then I though - why not making her a MGR version.
So I've sculpted a saddle and a border, sculpted some wings, backed her in the oven, rehaired her, painted her saddle and DONE :D

Sadly I have no WIP pic's only the finished result.

My first MGR pony was a Masquerade  (I also needed her wings) & she also got regular eyes. Sadly I was not good with sculpting things so her hair is crap :D
