Removing cancer :3
« on: March 22, 2012, 01:17:23 PM »
Last night while cleaning and styling my G1's hair I noticed one of my more minty ponies had cancer on her inner plug.
(edit, Inner plug that attachs her head to her body body)
I went a little crazy and hacked off the cancer and most of the surrounding area.
I'm so freaked out by cancer, some days I just want to sell off my non-cancerous ponies and be done with it. :/
But that's not the point, my main question is has anyone else cut cancer off their pony?

Has the cancer returned from where you cut it off.
Did the cancer still spread?

Do you mean you cut something what was on her hair?

Thats probably not cancer...cancer is an ageing/damage in the plastic not in the hair...

Always possible I didnt understand!

The area by my hand is where I hacked away at her body.

Sorry about the huge photo, it won't let me resize it

Yeah, if it was on the hair, it's probably not cancer, but I'm not really clear where it was...

Or instead of cutting off cancer spots, you could just boil them...

It's on her body, not the hair. :3

if it had been on say her horn, or her outer body, I would have left it alone. lol

Does anyone have any evidence that it can spread from pony to pony? Is it not just a breakdown of the plastic? I have a couple of ponies with it that I have had for some years and not only has it not spread it has not got any worse either.

There's a youtube vid that says it's bacteria.
I've never heard of there being a straight answer to whether its spreadable or not. :/

Ahhh! I get it now...

Ummm...no I wouldnt have hacked of a part of a G1 for that reason...but if it works for you!

As others have said I would recommend boiling to stop the spread and I also scrub the area with acetone or something a little abrasive on a toothbrush just to make sure its going no where

Yeah, I just use anti-bacterial cleansers like bleach or hydrogen peroxide to spot treat the area, and then sunfade the staining.  Unless the staining is in a deep layer of the vinyl, then I don't want to damage the actual plastic.  But I wouldn't think bacterial in the vinyl layers of my pony could travel to another... surface cancer is another thing entirely!

I don't think the surgery hurt her too much.
Once her I put her head back on, its impossible to see unless you take her head back off.
I'm going to be watching that area like a freaking hawk. lol

I have two ponies with what I think have cancer. I just went and used anti bacterial and cotton/acetone treatments to try and make sure it doesn't get worse as I don't have any oxyclean.
