Broken horn help
« on: April 21, 2012, 04:42:11 AM »
Hi :)

I have a Moondancer whose horn is broken. The top segment is missing. I think I might be able to tidy it a bit with sandpaper, or a nail file. Is this a god idea though? I don't know enough about sculpting to give that a go and I'm not sure when else to do.

It is a real shame as she is in mint condition besides this.

Any help would be really appreciated :)

If your're going to file it I would use a metal nail file - don't use sand paper. :)

I am simply not talented enough to offer help on sculpting either but a glass nail would probably be more gentle on the plastic...

Good luck!

There are some people in the UK that restore ponies. You can open a topic in the custom forum if you want and ask if someone would like to restore her  for you :)
Obviously, it would cost you, at least the shipping, so this is only an option if you *really* want to fix her up :)

Alternatively, you can ask for someone to guide you through the sculpting process, if you want to try it out yourself?
just some suggestions ^^ but whatever you decide, good luck!

Thanks again for the answers ^^

I am pretty competent using clay, but have never tried with the stuff I have heard the customizers talking about (aproxi sculpt or something like that?) Maybe I'll head over there and ask them for some advice ^^

You can use apoxie, but you could also go with Sculpey, too. It'd require baking, but as long as you're careful, it'll be fine. ^.^ Good luck with that horn!♥
