Acetate hair????
« on: June 15, 2012, 12:47:31 AM »
Hi guys! I am trying to order a 'weird' shade of blue for a custom pony project. The only hair color that looks close is in Acetate, and I am wondering what it looks like/feels like if anyone has tips for me before I order it. I am always so nervous to try a new kind of hair.

It is very different.  Very soft, but it refuses to come out of the little clumps from spinning it.  You know how dollyhair separates into the little plug sized pieces, but goes into individual hairs once you wash it?  This doesn't.  It is very pretty, but fragile, and it smells like play dough.

I do not like acetate hair AT ALL. It feels very coarse and just..gross. It won't blend with nylon hair either.

I like acetate hair. It makes me think of cross stitch threat that has been unraveled and used as hair, only more shiney. I have a custom that I will eventually redo that has been rehaired in black.

I like it.  I've used it a few times and never had trouble with it not blending or having it stay in clumps.  It's a bit more coarse than nylon but it has never behaved any different for me.

i re-haired with it once. the person who paid me to re-hair couldn't use the tool cause it kept breaking the hair, so i used the wire method and things went along quite well. it was very pretty and after i washed and conditioned and brushed it really didn't look any less lovely than nylon hair.
