Flocking to sculpture?
« on: February 05, 2012, 08:30:06 PM »
Just curious to know, can you add flocking to a pony with sculpted parts? Not sure if it would work thats all, so wondering if its been done, or not. And if so, how did it turn out?
thanks

I've flocked little sculptures made of Sculpey, if that helps.

Yep. :) The sculpting isn't great since she was an experiment though, lol. And also these were taken before I'd finished brushing off all the extra flocking/did touch ups.

Not to steal or derail the thread, but how do you flock ponies? Just PVA-glue and into the flock you go? Or Something Completely Different? In my personal experience PVA+flock doesn't stick that well.

I used Mod Podge when I flocked one of mine.  I watered it down a little because I was only flocking a very small area and needed it to be really precise, but it worked just fine.

So what I gathered from the Internet about Mod Podge it's some sort of PVA glue. Does it dry matt or satin like other PVA glues? One possibility could be to use a matt acrylic medium instead. Has anyone tried this?

How well does the flock stick with Mod Podge?

I've flocked a pony that had sculpted wings- though I didn't flock the wings, so my post is probably completely irrelevant, though I DID just do a little fawn who had sculpted bits that I flocked over. :)
