Customs / So, about those eyes....
« on: February 04, 2012, 08:34:22 PM »
When you are painting eyes, how do you go about painting the second eye on to a pony? I've been working on a custom now for a few weeks, finally painted her first eye earlier this week and it came out perfect. It's exactly what I wanted.

But now I'm having a very hard time of making myself paint that second eye DX I know that I'm not going to get nearly as close to what my first eye looks like, which is ok, but I'm affraid that I'm -royally- going to mess up.

Does anyone else ever encounter these fears, and anyone have any secret pony-customizing tips for eyes? :)

Pony Corral / Re: A question about Blind Bag ponies

I wonder why yours is shedding glitter? My sparkly Twilight hasn't shedded but then again she mostly just sits on the shelf unless I pick it up gently just to look at it. They might not be meant for rough handling. Or it could just be a QC issue with yours. This is Hasbro after all.

I have no idea, but I have her on a shelf, and when I dust, I have to move her. Glitter just kind of rains off her XD But like you said, this is probably just Hasbro. My glittery Pinkie Pie is fine.

Lol, hey there Aellos! :D

And thanks everyone! I figured that they were pretty much the same thing but the pictures are so small that it is hard to tell. Personally I'm hoping that they have less glitter, if any at all. My glittery Rainbow Dash from wave one keeps sheading glitter all over the place, lol.

Pony Corral / A question about Blind Bag ponies
« on: February 03, 2012, 04:12:12 PM »
When it comes to Blind Bag ponies, I've seen them posted on strawberry reef as being either "Glittery/Transparent" or "Crystal" (for example, wave 2 Applejack compaired to wave 4). What exactly is the diffrence between them? Is there one? Thanks!

It is really a sign that times are changing. Wardah brings up "Goofy" from Disney, and technically we can all pretty much say that Goofy is a lot like :muffin: Pony in a a lot of ways (klutz, messing things up, seems a little on the fuzzy side... does anyone remember the show Goof Troop? Lol).

I'm neither pro nor con :muffin: Pony. Personally I think she was adorable in the Last Roundup as a character, and shows that Ponyville isn't full of all these perfect ponies. You can be different and still be loved (at least thats how I took it). I think that if Hasbro changes :muffin: Pony at this point they are opening a huge can of worms. Basically, they opened Pandora's box and are now trying to shove things back in. It isn't going to work. The internet and pony fan base exploded over them including ":muffin: Pony", with most of the FiM fans seeing it as a nod to them.

I think that the entire situation is going to become more of a mess because neither side is going to sit down and talk calmly and logically. Those who are against :muffin: Pony and offended by her will rally together and make a lot of noise and complaints. Those who are for :muffin: Pony will rally back and make more noise. Both sides will get uppity. And when a decision is finally reached one side is going to be the losers and the winners are going to make some huge big deal of it.

These are just my opinions on the matter :)

I had that happen twice with the first two ponies I customized, though it was all over the head and not just the hair plugs. Like Saralacewing said, just sand and smooth, not much else you can do. Though there may the chance that the clay has reacted to something else on your pony (thats what happened with mine). If you had paint down or glue or something that caused a reaction with the clay you could test things out to figure out what combination of things caused it in order to prevent it next time. But thats only if there was some sort of reaction. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Customs / Re: Black RIT Dye?
« on: February 02, 2012, 06:53:33 AM »
I have one pony I used black RIT dye on that did bleed in to the hair, but I had a sneaking suspision that it was going to do that so I only put in one plug and waited, lol. If you are worried, just do one plug of hair and then set it aside for a week and watch what happens. That way you don't mess up a lot of hair. If it does start to bleed, I would try washing the pony in really cold water to help set the dye. After that, do another test plug.

Customs / Can I see Some Hair Blends? :D
« on: January 29, 2012, 07:20:00 PM »
So I'm thinking of ordering some custom hair blends from Dollyhair, since so far my customs have been pretty much solid in the hair color. So could I see....

Green blended with other greens
Blues blended with other blues
and reds blended with other reds?

These colors seem to be the ones I'm using most XD I'll branch out more when I'm feeling more creative (maybe I've even try a blend of two different colors like pink and blue, lol). Thanks guys!

Customs / Re: Work in Progress -- Any guesses?

That one on the far right makes me think of a certain version of Link from Legend of Zelda :D Which makes me think the other two may be the other two versions of Link. Those are my guesses.

Pony Corral / Re: Bronies, come answer my questions!
« on: January 25, 2012, 09:19:03 AM »
1. How you got into MLP and why you like it.
I can't remember how i got in to it originally. I remember seeing the movie with the Smooze (spelling?) and being hooked from there. I got out of it for -years- until FIM came out. I happened to see a video of it set to Starcraft I think it was, and Nightmare Moon looked awesome so I went and watched the first episode. I was hooked at once.

2. Single? Married? Any dads? Any moms?
I'm in a relationship thats going in to its fifth year, and I'm about to turn twenty four. I got my boyfriend to watch the first couple episodes of FIM and after some eye rolling and cringing, he was hooked.

3. Do you collect or just watch the show and discuss?
I collect to customize, and thats about it on that front. The only ponies I collect to keep are Luna, and a Rarity brushable that I got for my birthday. I watch it every week but don't really discuss it that much.

4. Have you developed an interest in the other pony generations?
The G2 generation! I remember having a few as a kid and then donated them to a used toy drive when I got older DX Looking back I wish I had kept them, lol. My interest in the G2 generation has been rekindled, and I've started to develop an interest in the G1 stuff the longer I've been around here, lol.

5. Any other pertinent facts I should know in order to truly understand what bronies are about!
The term brony doesn't just refer to just the guys, which I think has been covered already, but just as an example I'm a girl and still they call me a brony. A brony can be of any age too; it doesn't have to just be the guys or girls that are twenty and up. They can be younger. Ironically enough, I don't often hear people refer to the age group that this show is supposed to be aimed at (girls ages six to ten or somewhere around there) being called bronies XD

Thanks for the tips :) I will give it a try and see if it helps! I want to get back to work on this custom and it just refuses to play nice XD
