Pony Corral / Re: Why, Hasbro!?
« on: October 08, 2015, 02:10:38 PM »
I get that Hasbro is marketing primarily to kids and not collectors, and I have no problem with all the additional, non-brushable toys and merchandise, but continuously producing new character toys used to apparently work, so what changed? That's what I don't understand.

Thanks

For some reason, some of the pictures weren't clickable even though I'd set them all to be...I think I got that fixed now.

Awesome! I love that outfit! It's one of the first I got when I was little!

Thanks!

So, I've taken to half-restoring/half-customizing ponies that are in reasonably good shape except for one big flaw, like haircuts or missing symbols. I've also been working on some purely customs, and yesterday, I finally finished a bunch of them:

First, G3 Munchy in Japan: I had this idea for a while and am so glad to have finally found a fakie to work with. I'll rehair her eventually.

Cloud Dreamer: Probably my favorite of all these. Got her in fantastic condition except her symbols were almost entirely rubbed off. I don't like the look of her original symbols anyway, so adapted them into something I think looks nicer and better uses her color scheme.

Boysenberry Pie: had to give her a new horn! So I added some chocolate drizzle to her symbol and gave her eyeshadow and berry "freckles". Still not sure if I should leave the hair as-is.

Sonic the Hedgehog tiny animals: I made a few of these a while ago from the G4 animals because they look almost identical, and now I've added the squirrel and sculpted the walrus/sea lion too go with them. It's my first time sculpting like this, so I'm really happy with it.

Pony Corral / Re: Thoughts about sunfading... using a nail lamp?

I've wondered about this too, but I don't know if the nail lamps emit the same UV frequencies.

That single pink shoe looks like maybe Strawberry Shortcake or one of it's fakies? I'm not an expert on SSC, but it looks like the right shape.

Pony Corral / Re: Stack Toys are making me crazy!
« on: September 01, 2015, 04:21:12 PM »
Yeah, the stack toys are confusing, especially if they don't seem to match what's "supposed" to go together. A friend of mine has a stack toy that doesn't seem to match any of the ones I know about because it has two different shades of yellow when one should have been gold, if I'm remembering correctly.

Good luck getting them sorted out!

I don't know if you saw this on Replacements, but here's the link to where you can send them pictures of your piece and they'll look at it and see if they can identify it. http://www.replacements.com/identify.htm It's free, although it will add your email to their mailing list.

Oh, that's cool! I didn't know they made these, but even cooler to me, I've never seen any merchandise with the Magic Message Ponies before!

Maybe try Replacements.com. They have listings of a huge range of patterns and companies from antique to current. Without markings, it may be difficult, and they can't tell you value if it's not already listed, but I've found them very helpful and bought some things from them before.

A lot of the music is on Soundcloud, uploaded by the people who did the music. I put most of it in a giant playlist: https://soundcloud.com/elisto-1/sets/steven-universe
