It depends. I'd buy a "bait" pony over one that's already been restored, as I much prefer to do most of that kind of work myself- for me, restoration is all part of the fun!
On the other hand, I might buy a restored pony if it's one I really want, (so I wouldn't get a restored peachy, but I'd certainly consider TaF yum yum) as long as the seller is honest and has fully disclosed all work done on the pony.
I know some consider repaints customisation, but it wouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker for me. It's something I'm reluctant to do myself, as I don't have a very steady hand, but if it was just a matter of touching up eyes and symbols, as opposed to altering them, then I could live with that.

Maybe mimic? I'm not sure. She's so darned expensive. There's no chance of finding her in the wild, and I'm certainly not going to pay that much money for one pony.

Like others have said, I wouldn't intentionally cut a ponies hair- or at least, not just for the sake of it. Obviously I cut hair off if I'm going to reroot it, or even it out a bit.
On the other hand, haircuts do suit some ponies- my princess Serena has got a bit of a bob cut going on, but I think it's actually a pretty good look for her! The girl who owned her originally (who, according to the initials on Serena's hooves, was called Jade) had good taste in haircuts.
I guess I don't mind little imperfections like that on ponies on general. I think it serves as an important reminder that these ponies may be mostly collectors items now, but they were somebody's beloved childhood toy once.

My vote goes to G1 moondancer. I can see I'm not the only one who wishes her pose was different (I think she'd look nice in the powder pose) but otherwise she's just so pretty- I actually think she's even prettier when her vinyl has yellowed slightly. G3 moondancer is beautiful too though, her pearlesent silvery blue body is stunning!

Starswirl is my favourite (I'm a sucker for pink ponies) but I think they're all so pretty. It really is a shame they never came out. Does anyone know why hasbro never released them?

So I was trawling through Etsy on a whim, and happened across a shop selling some of their old ponies. My heart stopped when I saw that one of them was skyflier! I bought her of course, and she's living next to powder in the pony cabinet. (Here's a solo picture) https://www.flickr.com/photos/185078305@N04/48922799608/in/dateposted-public/ I realize that as far as ponies go, skyflier isn't that rare, (if you live in the US that is) but because she was never sold over here, I've been searching and searching, and I'm so happy to have a skyflier to call my own! With this find, along with getting baby cotton candy and baby applejack, October is proving to be a good month pony wise!

True, you could see the moral/resolution coming from a mile off, but that wasn't really an issue for me this time. The journey to said resolution was entertaining, and the episode as a whole was enjoyable enough for me, which is a big upgrade from almost every other episode in this season. I liked spur and adult sweetie belle's designs, and I forget what the name of the tornado creature was, but it was pretty cute! This episode also basically confirmed that scootaloo will never be able to fly. if you look at it as the pegasus equivalent of being physically disabled, I can kind of appreciate them going for that option; though who knows if that's what they intended, or if they just couldn't be bothered to give a definite answer.
