My best friend gave me Main Sail for my birthday. We often played with My Little Ponies together in the early 90s. Once we played with her cousin who had lots of flutter ponies and I thought they were amazing. One day I'm going to own a flutter pony, with original wings. What you didn't have as a kid, get as an adult.

Definitely on my want list. I love the colours and the berries! I think she's fancy in a regular way. I think some of the regular ponies without stuff like glitter, 3D, interesting poses, cool accessories etc are a bit boring but a nice colour scheme and pretty mark goes a long way and Sugarberry is a perfect example of that.

I hate braiding hair. I like long, flowing hair. I mean, small braids are fun to do, but braiding tails or manes is a last resort neccesity for me, because it means the hair refuses to be managed.

I hear ya. I think braided hair on MLPs looks like a kid has played with the pony rather than a piece of a collection to display and care for.

I only like G1 ponies. I kind of hate the rest. I think I might be old and too set in my ways to accept anything which doesn't look like the ponies of my childhood. :D

SwirlyWirly, that sounds interesting! What sort of Etsy shop are you looking to start?

I was thinking about mainly designing stickers and labels. Maybe art prints as well.

Oooh yes Etsy:) welcome to the group

Thanks! :D

That's a great goal, Etsy is work but it can be fun and exciting. When you're ready to open your store, let me know. I can give you a link so you get 40 free listings to start with.

Thank you, that's really kind of you! :)

And wow, such a cool looking mailbox! I have never seen anything like that before.

Your English is great! Perfect even! Welcome to the Arena.

Your collecting story is very similar to mine. I had a couple of years off after moving home but I'm trying to complete my want list this year! You are so lucky to have your childhood collection still. Who else is your favourite from childhood apart from Swirly Whirly?

Thank you! I really loved my TAF Megan and Sundance. :) Posey is very dear to me too since she was my very first real MLP.

Welcome! When you get your collection on display, why not post a pic in the brag part of the arena? We’d love to see them!

Thanks! I will. :) I just wish my collection was as fancy as some pony rooms I've seen on this forum. My collection is tiny in comparison but oh well, Rome wasn't built in one day!

Welcome to the Arena! I must say, your English is great :) Sometimes I find things that smell like ponies too! Which other ponies were in your childhood collection? Glad you joined, I hope you have fun here  I look forward to seeing you around!

Thanks! It's cool finding things which smells like ponies. They should make that as a perfume. I'd totally wear it! My small childhood collection consisted of Posey, Main Sail, Kiss Curl, Streaky, Baby Mischief, Swirly Whirly and TAF Megan and Sundance.

Welcome to the Arena

I hope you have an amazing time exploring the forum and get to add many new ponies to your collection :)

Thank you! I like it a lot so far. :)

I have such a hard time even getting what bronies are about. I don't know how much this topic has been discussed in this forum since I'm new here but what is your take on the psychology behind bronies?

I think it's mostly a pop culture phenomenon which probably attracts men who feel that they've finally found a community in which they can put aside some of societies pressure of what a man should be and like. For me as a collector I relive my childhood by collecting MLP but for bronies maybe it's about getting to live the childhood they never got to have as boys. Getting in touch with typically feminine attributes instead of playing war and cars. I've heard bronies saying they actually learn life lessons from MLP and I think that can actually be true because as boys they might not have been encouraged to talk about feelings, being caring towards each other etc. I have a hard time thinking that I'd enjoy something aimed at kids which was never part of my own childhood as an adult, but I think the thing with bronies is that as men MLP and all that MLP is and stands for, is entirely new to them. I think that's one group of bronies and I find them rather cute.

[Mirn edit]

I think as the fad dies out bronies will find other fandoms because a fad it is. Where did the Twilight fans go? They were all over the internet ten years ago and now they're gone. I have a really hard time seeing most of the bronies still being fans in ten years time. I think, sadly for some of them, as their community gets smaller they will find less acceptance for being men into a TV-show for little girls, and maybe move on to other things. [Mirn edit]

I wish I stayed a kid a bit longer than I did. I still played with barbies at 10 and I remember some of my friends thinking that was weird. At 10! When we started junior high that part of life was ultimately ended and now decades later I think it's sad. I was a child for maybe 12 years and now I'll be an adult for the rest of my life and there's no way of going back. I couldn't play like I did as a kid even if I tried to. I guess that's why I collect MLPs. They're childhood nostalgia and collecting them is my adult version of playing with them. They're colourful, glittery and fun and still make me happy. :) Being an adult is boring sometimes so it's nice having something like that to spend some time on.

I've recently taken up my MLP collecting again after a long pause and now I'm going to put my collection on display. The last time my collection was on display it was stored on open wall shelves in my old apartment for a few years time. Over that time my poor ponies became dusty, even though I cleaned my apartment regularly. I didn't clean the ponies though, they just stood there untouched. Unpacking them now I found them all to be dirty because of old dust and my show stable is rather yellowed due to sun exposure.

As I'm putting my old collection plus a lot of new items on display I was wondering, what's the ultimate way of storing a MLP collection? Ponies, playsets, accessories. I have three display cabinets to put most of the stuff in but some things, like the Dream Castle, will not fit. You guys who store such things in the open, don't they get dirty and how do you clean them if so?

The room I will be storing the collection in is in the basement and will not be exposed to direct sunlight, although there are small windows in another part of the room. Will things only get yellowed and bleached if exposed to direct sunlight or just for being out in the open?

I've read something about storing MLPs in a even tempered room. What does that mean?

I'm sorry if these questions have been asked before. I'm new to the forum.

So some background, my collection has been on pause for a few years now. Got my career and now I am a homeowner. As I look to the future, I've decided, to transform my tiny basement into a Pony Room. Always wanted one and it would me give me a reason to unpack the collection. I am willing to sink a grand or so into the project but I'll end of with a finished basement, storage, and a sweet pony hoard location.

So peeps, I'd like to see your pony rooms so I can start getting ideas for my own. Before and after pics would be great too. What were some of the challenges you faced in creating a Pony space? What are some tips that you think would save me some time or would make the end product looking nice? Anything to avoid? What are the must haves of a space like this?

Wow, your post could have been written by me! I've also paused my collection for years and recently became a home owner and I'm going to turn a room in the basement into my pony room! Thanks for creating this thread, I'm sure I'll find lots of inspiration here for my basement pony room as well. :)

In 2018, I want to accomplish:
1. Get a Etsy store up and running.
2. Finish three different art projects for said Etsy store.
3. Begin to make money from my art.

What do I want to accomplish in the first 3 months?
Finish one art project and start selling it on Etsy.

I think a friend of mine had one of those figurines if I remember correctly. I've never seen them since.
