Off Topic / I finally quit my awful job!
« on: September 18, 2023, 10:54:56 PM »
Yay! I nearly posted this in WYP because I always have anxiety about quitting however bad the job. I'm not actually a quitter. However, in hindsight my only regrets are not quitting sooner from a toxic workplace. I have done the sums, and it will be tight but now I can stay home with my daughter. So here it is...

I think I like all of them apart from orange, but some of the ones you get less often like lime, cherry and pineapple.

I think I prefer many of the common ponies to many of the rarer ones. I absolutely love Peachy!

Sorry I can't help you with the hair sizes but wow you did a great job! I hope the stickiness stabilises for you. I have had ponies who were sticky and then stabilised after cleaning.

Yes, I like Mommy/baby pairs that aren't exact matches like Babies Moondancer and Blossom.

Same here! This family reminds me a bit of the Honeycombs. So nice. A great idea to give these two a lovely Mum.

Pony Corral / Re: Acetone on ponies -yay or nay?
« on: August 10, 2023, 01:02:37 PM »
Personally I don't believe that organic solvents are safe to use on ponies. When I worked in museums we were told that dish soap also has an impact on anything it comes into contact with. Soft soap and warm water, then toothpaste, then magic erasers are my suggestions in increasing order of strength. Sunlight, extremes of temperature, temperature fluctuations, high humidity and other chemicals such as peroxide also have an impact. The damage only becomes apparent after a time delay. Sunfading of yellow ponies is a good example of this - the pony colour is freshened up but the effect is only temporary and long-term the pony degrades faster.

I did some laundry and weeding the garden this morning, then I went to the market. I bought mackerel and burgers, plums and sprouting broccoli. We put the mackerel and burgers on the BBQ with some other stuff. It's only the second time we've had a BBQ at home since we moved here and it went fairly well. We started at 3pm and finished around 6pm. DH and baby were in bed by 7.30 because they were both very tired. Hence why I have time to write a message!

I'm looking at her right now! I got her in the nicest swap. She's one of my favourite G3s, especially in summer. Ha ha, just read the above and I think mine has lost her scent. Sounds as though that may be a good thing!

Hi there, really hoping to complete some G1 ponies with tails! I need rainbow tails for Starshine, white tail for cloud dreamer and a faded fading pink tail for Wind Whistler. Thanks for looking!

G1 Wingers for me. I think I'm influenced by UK flower fairies, in the illustrations they have butterfly wings.

My Mum came over at 10am to see the baby and I ploughed through some personal admin. Baby is smiling and laughing now. She's very cute and we are very proud of her. She's four months old and I'm beginning to look for a new job so I can go back to work.

I agree with Taffeta, but I know it's hard to clean without being sure there's no water inside. I'd say have you tried using absorbent cloths like baby wipes or a sponge so you don't need to dismantle? Also pinch the root of the tail between finger and thumb to stop water going in while washing. Also leave somewhere warm and with good air circulation to dry as quickly as possible after cleaning, any water inside should wick along the tail and outside by capillary action, hopefully before the tail ring can start to rust.
