Absolutely LOVE Zipp, Pipp is quite adorable too- it looks like her wings are covered with clouds? They kind of remind me of Flutter Pony wings actually. And the tiara...I wonder if she's a princess of some sort?

Not super keen on the phone, I expected this generation to be more modern but not THAT modern lol. The hoof-shaped Popsocket on the back of the phone is hilarious though.

Still really not interested in the toys, but the animation and character designs look exceptional- if not still a little too human, imo. Get rid of the eyebrows pls

I look forward to exploring your site! I've heard mention of it on here before, but haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

A couple of things that I can think of:

The first set of rainbow ponies (Moonstone, Parasol, Starshine, etc.) in the 35th anniversary group were originally sold as scented pponies. Not sure if it was due to complaints about discoloration, but then a non-scented set was released.

Some variations from the originals:

Sparkler. Her original tail was purple, and original mane was predominantly purple with a neon red stripe in the middle. Retro version has her tail both purple and red, and her mane half and half, with purple on top and red on the bottom. Then they changed her to look more like her original version with the all-purple tail and small red stripe in her mane, but the purple color isn't as dark as the original and actually appears to be 2 shades of purple blended together.

Gusty and Sparkler: the stripe in their manes (on the later version of Sparkler) is placed on the other side (non-display side), so the mane lays the opposite direction of the original.

Heartthrob is a duller, bustier pink than her original counterpart.

Moondancer: has both burgandy red and purple in her tail, much the way Sparkler's was done, instead of just red.

I'm sure I'll think of some more and will add to this as I do, but these are the ones I can think of offhand right now.

To add to this, several other ponies have their manes rooted in the opposite directions! Off the top of my head, all of the ponies in the Surprise pose have their manes rooted backward (The longest rooting row faces the right instead of the left so they can't be switched to lay in the front), and of course of course Gusty and Sparkler have this same issue as well.

Another add on: There is a mini Glory and book, just like the Firefly one (except Glory is more accurate than Firefly was lol)

They do sell.them on Amazon as well.
I know they sold some previous waves on Amazon, but I didn't see the Surprise or Posey waves on there (except from third party sellers with scalper prices)- maybe they'll get this wave though!

The Gusty set is below. I hope that helps.

Thanks! I posted that link in the thread a bit earlier, I was able to secure the last two waves through them last week <3 I'm going to ask if they'll be ordering the Twinkle Eyes series as well because they're such a good shop.

Update, they got back to me about the retailers that will be selling the TE Ponies.  :(

Quote
I only see Cracker Barrel & Meijer.

Hope this helps!

There are some CB locations here, but no Meijers. Guess I'll be paying scalper prices lol

I recently emailed BF about a defective pony I got (poor CJ has a tear in her tail hole), and I asked them about future releases while I was at it! They confirmed that the Twinkle Eyed ponies are still slated for a Fall 2021 release, so we should (hopefully) definitely see those coming soon. No idea on which retailers will carry them, but I will update when they respond lol!

On the other subject - restorative stuff on personal collection items is also risky, since the world is unpredictable and you never know when you may need to sell something to pay a bill or, heaven forbid, someone else might be selling them for you.

Breaking the seal and tampering with the tail fixings makes it impossible to discern if something is original to the pony or has been replaced/rerooted. For me that's a deal breaker, but it's a very personal thing.
This is also definitely true for some buyers and collectors!

I personally am not worried about keeping the pony as original as possible- I'd prefer to enjoy the pony my way (head removed, tail washer replaced, hair washed etc,) and know they're protected against future damage, rather than keeping them completely sealed and original for the sake of retaining market value and not enjoying them as a result.

I do prefer to buy my ponies completely unaltered though, so I appreciate that most other collectors prefer not to open them up lol

I would personally leave it; if you plan on selling, it would be best to leave it for the new owner to figure out if they want to try removing it.

If you want to keep her, I would be all game for experimentation  I behead, wash and replace the tail washer of every pony that comes into my home, even mint ones.

Pony Corral / Re: Balding Pony Mystery? Rehair Help

That's not encouraging.  So you're saying all polypropylene dry rots with age? Way to go Hasblow.

It depends on the conditions in which the doll/pony is kept, but sadly yes it's quite common with polypropylene :/ I collect vintage Sailor Moon dolls and the entire Sailor Moon World line from 1999 has this issue, you'll often see completely NIB dolls with nearly bald heads.

It really upsets me that Hasbro has clearly forgotten to consider how their toys will age, especially with reboot G4 and onward. Nylon hair lasts longer than every other hair type, and polypropylene ages and rots quite rapidly in comparison.

Hi everyone,

I have a couple ponies that need rehairing, I'm usually fine with doing them myself but I don't want to do them all myself LOL

I know the Tool Method is the most popular rehairing technique, but I really don't like glue to secure the plugs, so I'm looking for a rehairing artist that uses the Knot Method since it doesn't require glue.

No styling needed since I prefer to style my ponies myself, I just need someone to reroot a few to lighten the load for me lol, I can do the tails myself as well.

Please let me know if you do rehairing with the Knot Method and your rates! Preferably in the US as I'd prefer not to ship outside of the country.

Thanks <3

Ick her hair looks like polypropylene to me from the photo, I know some G3 ponies have it (along with G4 tails after a certain point, and 99% of G4 reboot and G4.5 manes and tails) which is notorious for rotting and falling out with age. :/

Edit: Shimmerlocks is definitely the best place to get nylon hair! Their service is incredible. Sugarberry nylon (named after the G1 pony) might be a match?

Happy you two liked it!  :)
I did another edit for fun to bring back some of the "horsey-ness" from the early Gens

It makes me sad that in the recent generations they start to look less and less like horses.... :T

Omg this is the BEST edit I've seen! She looks like the character while still resembling a horse instead of Elsa on a pony body lol

I did a quick edit of the new toy! The thing that bothers me the most is the skinny neck and the super short snout!
I hope they'll tweak them a bit!

This looks a lot better! I have little hope for this generation, I loved G4 but these ones take the flat-face thing a bit too far, and I also don't like how the mane is so round in the front, almost like a human hairline. I think the G4 FS ponies did the thicker mane perfectly, a few extra rows but still shaped (mostly) like what you'd expect from a horse mane.

The feathered hooves are nice though!

Welcome! Tootie Tails is one of my favorites, both because of her design and her hilarious name

Well those look cuter than the toys we've seen so far, they have actual snouts lol
