Pony Corral / Re: Minnesota Winter Party! Sunday December 10th!
« on: December 08, 2017, 04:05:21 PM »
I am very excited! This will be my first time meeting people from online. I bake at a cupcake shop, so I am going to try to bring cupcakes for everyone :) Are there any major allergies I should take into account?

I unfortunately won't have time to make cards for people, so if it's not too late, I want to tell you guys not to go out of your way to make one for me/Erick!

Pony Corral / Re: What is your favourite G4 thing to collect?

I like the Fashion styles as well, though I haven't been keeping up with them. I think I had all of them up to SDCC :muffin: Pony, then stopped getting them. But I really like their substantial size and how much more naturally their hair falls.

I also love the articulated Guardians of Harmony figures, they're super fun! I just found 10+ of the Wonderbolts set at Goodwill for $15, so I got two (one for me and one for my friend). I love the ponies with hair, but I also love how expressive and on model the GoH figs are. They feel like they have more life.

Can I put down a +1? My SO, Erick, will be coming with me. He's pony-literate :)

Off Topic / Re: Stuffed Animals
« on: November 21, 2017, 09:15:50 AM »
I love stuffed animals, I have hundreds of them! I used to collect specific kinds like Nintendo, Pokemon, Hamtaro, etc. But now I like anything that is sufficiently cute and looks good quality. I also used to buy a lot online, but now I'm more fond of buying one when I'm out with someone, to preserve the memory of that day :) So in those cases I'm less picky.

I hope it's alright to share a story about a specific pair of plushies I have here! My three childhood besties came to visit me in Philly for the first time last April. I was showing them around the city, and we stopped at the zoo. At the gift shop, one of my friends and I mutually decided we both wanted stuffed cheetahs. She picked one out and I grabbed one from another brand, but after holding them a bit we decided we both liked the others' cheetahs better, lol. So we traded cheetahs and named them after Greek goddesses - hers is Artemis and mine is Nike. I bought them because I was happy to have something to remember their visit by and wanted to gift her the cheetah. We walked around downtown Philly after that, and she was carrying her cheetah around like no big deal, while I was too embarrassed to do the same...That friend was killed in a freak accident Oct. 9. She was an EMT and her ambulance crashed into a semi. At the service after her funeral, they had some of her things laid out on display, and Artemis was there. I got in contact with her roommate, and he gave the cheetah to me. I didn't like the thought of her getting donated and not going to someone who knew the story behind them. And it felt right that they would stay together.

Artemis is on the left, Nike is the shaggy little one on the right. My friend liked Artemis because of her spots and black ears, I liked Nike because of the cute face.

I spoke to my signifant other, and I think this is the first meet I will be able to attend! I've been wanting to attend one for years, and now I'm living in MN again. What should people bring?

Off Topic / Re: Hobby Welding?
« on: September 20, 2017, 09:38:45 PM »
I did some welding in art school, it's very fun once you get used to it! I'll repeat everyone else's advice to absolutely being as safe as possible...Definitely make sure you keep track of what tanks are open, don't wear loose clothing/have hair tied up, and if wearing jeans, no frays at the ends (they can catch fire.) There's more, but yeah if you can find someone experienced to teach you, you should be good! A lot of it is common sense.

Here's something I made in the welding room, it's an icosahedron :D

The five elongated bubble run is from the very first batch of Funko ponies. This one is from after the first run so it's the more common of the two. Not sure on values, though, sorry!

We were about to go to the Books-a-million two hours away from here, but my boyfriend called first to make sure. A good thing he did, because apparently the closest "pony" thing they have there were Unicornos :/ There's a Barnes and Noble within easy walking distance from me, but I'll be moving to a different state soon. I guess if B&N doesn't get it before I move, I'll have to buy one online instead.

I stopped by my Hallmark store on Friday and didn't find her. Hopefully they just haven't gotten her in yet.

It would be a little awkward if there were a second "reboot"...Would we call it G4.75? :P

My niece actually found this one for me. Mine doesn't look as nice as the one pictured above, though!

Similar to Stormness'...I made the mistake of thinking you could straighten a Totsy's hair just like a real MLP's. Now a chunk of my Totsy's hair is disintegrated and she'll have to be rehaired.

Depending on the quality of the hair in this set and whether I ever find it at a discount...I would consider getting this for that Applejack. I love the fact that she has three rows of plugs for her fringe. But I really hope that the single-packed FS Applejack will also have that fringe as well, so I won't have to buy this huge thing for one pony. I don't want to sound like I'm preoccupied with things being "show accurate"...I just think Applejack looks cute with bangs. My favorite G4 is still her original Fashion style with the bangs, after all :)

I'm all in! I read the book series twice, watched the episodes countless times, read Dunk and Egg and the World of Ice and Fire...I got my parents into it as well, so now they'll be watching through our HBO account (we use their Netflix, so it evens out...). So we are all super ready for tonight!

I've been following you guys' threads for awhile now - I used to live in MN and, with luck, will move back there eventually. I hope you are still doing meets at that point! In the meanwhile, I hope you have fun this September! This sounds like it'll be an exciting one :)
