Customs / Re: May I see your G1 customs?
« on: February 28, 2012, 07:34:21 AM »
I've only done one G1 custom but I can't share pictures until she's happily at home with Emuel =p
I can tell you she was a Posey :frolic:

These are all truly wonderful, Darkhorse I love those little teeny tiny babies *noms*

Collective sigh of relief from all ponyfolk with the news you're restoring her.
G1's are always a restore for me, unless they are truly manky.

good luck and great find!

Here's a picture of my Charlie, cuddling a custom I made for my friend.

I don't know why he looks so sad, probably because he knows I'm going to take it away LOL

If you feel confident enough to do it then go ahead. I rehaired a G1 Wind Whistler and a Snowflake I got, near perfect condition, just hairless =p

G1 Twilight was always my 'special' pony.
She was so high on my list of needs when I was recreating my childhood herd. Gusty and Wind Whistler too.

They haven't really changed though I am painfully fond of Twilight Sparkle from FiM..hehe :p

I would never ever ever customise a G1 unless as mentioned it is truly manky (as with the case of the Posey I did not to so long ago, regrind, pindot, smooze and COVERED in biro pen, literally you couldn't see her yellow skin for the amount of pen on her. Not to mention she was rusted inside and a little bit mouldy.) She looks much better as a custom than she did beforehand.

If I come across less than mint G1's I will happily give them a clean and replace lost hair. I have a Galaxy who is less than perfect, brown spots and her head is badly faded BUT she was a major grail of mine when i was recreating my childhood herd and I don't ever remember my original Galaxy to be perfect.

We must save the not-really-baity-baits from falling into the hands of unknowing albeit willing customisers!

I really hope it's North England this year. I got my tickets last year but couldn't make it down to Brighton.
*crosses fingers and hopes for Manchester or Liverpool*

If any of them were to get their cutie marks the likely candidates would be Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo since their G3 selves already do.
However chances are they won't ever get them.
We live in hope.

Customs / Re: Gradients: Help please?

See that's the other issue, the pony is question is Black. I'm not too worried about the White one, since she can be dip dyed easily (yay white baits).
Hmmmmm.

There is also a dyeing technique using fabric dye.  Just follow the manufacturer's instructions to prepare the dye.  The carefully dip you bait in to just cover the hooves (moving the pony up and down just a tad will help soften the gradient).  Just another option :)

Would this work on a pony that has been FBR?

I haven't exactly gotten gradients down either, but have you tried reading through this tutorial?

I was not aware that existed...THANK YOU.
Now I need to find a bait to practice on...

Customs / Gradients: Help please?
« on: February 19, 2012, 07:34:53 AM »
So I have these two customs I'm working on and I really want to do gradients on their legs.
I know the easiest way is with an airbrush but I don't have one soooo..

Are there any other ways to do this without it failing miserably?

Thank youuuuu.

Pony Corral / Re: Customizing Mountain Boys...?
« on: February 18, 2012, 10:41:02 AM »
I think that Ice Crystal in question used to be a Salty. I could be wrong..
Also I'm pretty certain that Fireball was originally a Steamer, looking at the shade of pink.

But no, I completely agree with the comments above. Check your ponies before you customise!
