With dolls and the like, I tend to collect complete lines and display them in neat, organized arrangements. But with ponies... there are so many types, sizes, generations, series, and styles that my collection starts to just look like a giant vault of randomness. o_0; Trying to "complete" anything seems like an insurmountable task, due to the sheer volume of releases!
My question(s): is there rhyme or reason to your collection? Do you only collect certain generations, or certain types of ponies from said generations (brushables, blind bags, Funko, plush, etc.)? I seem to have collected a bit of everything. ^_^; And how do you display them in a way that's orderly and aesthetically pleasing?

Have her! She was actually a pleasant surprise when I bought a huge lot of G3 ponies on Ebay. There were probably around 100 ponies in the lot, and it was hard to ID them all in the photos. When I started unpacking them, Port-o-bella turned up. *_*

So darling! Has anyone confirmed whether or not these are straight up reproductions, down to the mold and whtanot? I have a vintage SS collection, and they seem pretty accurate at a glance.

Ooh, what a fun idea! Well, my hometown comes with its own cryptozoological sightings! Specifically, The Dogman: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michigan_DogmanThe story specific to my town is modern, having been reported only a handful of years ago. There was even a reenactment of it on one of those "monster hunter" shows some time back (I think it aired on SyFy?). Basically, there were some college kids out driving at nightfall. At some point they heard a strange sound coming from right outside the car... In the rearview mirror, they saw a monstrous shape chasing them; it looked like a mix of human and animal, and it was FAST. Unnaturally fast. It pursued the car for a good distance, and needless to say, the people inside were starting to panic. They kept driving, and finally the creature slowed down and let the car escape. Afterwards, the students stated definitively that it was like nothing they'd ever seen. Covered in hair, with a human-like shape and hideous appearance. The story was eventually archived as a "Dogman sighting". The thing is, my mother was a professor at the college they were from, and one of the guys who was in the car was her student. She always told me that he was very honest and sincere. She said she believed their story, because he wasn't the type to lie about something like that, or try to get attention. So... local werewolf. There have been various sightings around Michigan, but that's honestly one of the most dramatic. Part of me wants to go looking for it.

I found Sapphire Joy, Sea Swirl, and Meadow Flower in my Family Dollar (Provo, Utah, USA) today! Hopefully we will start seeing them more!
So these three are confirmed to have been released in the U.S.? Well, that's something at least. ...Uggh, there aren't even any on Ebay that are located in North America. ;_; So much want...

Thank you everyone for your input! My other question would be... What is considered 'public domain' and what isn't? That's obvious with things like photos and plagiarizing, but not so much with information itself. If someone discovers an exciting bit of news and shares it on a forum or twitter, would it be poor etiquette to write a blog entry on said news tidbit (in my own words, of course). Should credits be given? Sorry. I ask a lot of questions. ;

So much want! They remind me of Rainbow Brite, in a strange way, with those little fairies...

So I've been blogging for a while now, off and on, and I'm ready to get serious again... I have a toy blog, as it happens (see sig). I love to improve in things, and blogging is no exception for me, so I'm seeking a bit of advice from fellow bloggers, webmasters, and those who read blogs.
1: Being 'on top of the ball'. When something new is happening (first photos of a new toy discovered, new trademarks discovered, etc.), from where is it best to get ahold of photos, info, and the like? Is it poor etiquette to ask permissions of someone who posts a photo to a forum if you may repost it?
2: Gaining momentum. How is it most efficient to promote your blog? DO you promote? Or do you let Google searches and the quality of your work earn your traffic?
Constructive advice is very welcome. As I've said, I'm hoping to improve in my blogging, and would love some insight into what a well-oiled blog or site needs to function. Thank you. =3

That's one convoluted history. DX Thanks for the clarification! Financially, I can see why they chose to continue with the characters they'd been marketing heavily up to that point... The strange part is, Twilight Twinkle never received much publicity, nor did Applejack in G3. I'm surprised they didn't use more common names, like Starsong or Tools Roola.

I have the glittery version, and he's one of my faves; he looks so dramatic! :3 I love star/sun/space-themed ponies. <3

My ponies are extremely disorganized at the moment, and I'm trying to come up with a creative way to display more of them. I was wondering... How do you display your collection/s? As I'm sure many of you know, collections tend to quickly outgrow their allotted shelf space. If you have photos, all the better. :3 Thanks!

Whee! My Rite Aid had the mug set! And at 50% off! =D Less about copyright and more about buying into the mass retro market that is floating around at the moment Hasbro have tried this with MLP in the past in a very half hearted way (AJ and Sundance bobbleheads and the G1 merch in G2 packaging) but the massive popularity of MLP and the 80s right now has just combined to bring all of this to us.
True; they're probably way past caring about copyright renewal by now... I'm just thinking of before 'ponymania' hit, when Hasbro chose to use G3 names and likenesses over G1 due to the bother and expense of renewing the old G1 copyrights. I do love this 80s revival/nostalgia that's been going on lately! I really hope we get more retro-styled MLP toys in the future.
