What an incredible find, remarkable! Lucky you! I only wonder how the heck it got there on the ground in the first place...

Pony Brag Arena / G1 & G3 My Little Pony Collection - 1/5/21
« on: January 10, 2021, 07:38:43 PM »
I'm ready to show everybody my awesome My Little Ponies! I've collected actively since starting in February 2018, funding it with my (now defunct) monetized YouTube channel, as well as my $10 weekly allowance and holiday gift money.

Everything in the collection lives at my Ikea display cabinet. There are five shelves, the first three dedicated to G1 ponies, pegasi, and unicorns. The bottom two are used for G3 ponies and all of my foals. It's served me very well, and still has free room left after over a year!

Today, I have 104 G1s, 53 G3s, and 19 reproduction toys. I also own a complete Ponyville Adventure Game, Summer Haye's G1 and G3 collector guides, a sleeping bag, G1 Starcatcher's backcard, Hallmark's Firefly ornament, accessories, and several combs. You can't really see what I listed off in the photos, but if anybody's curious, I might post a couple of my special items someday!

Very cool! I personally don't believe I ever found the thing during her release in Target stores, surprising considering I go fairly often. Do you think you'll open her or leave her MIB?

Pony Corral / So-Soft Lofty - How I Did My First Deflocking
« on: January 05, 2021, 05:54:33 PM »
I scored G1 Lofty and Princess Misty for $2 at a garage sale in July 2018. Misty's in perfectly reasonable condition, but even after I cleaned Lofty, she was the WORST I've had in my collection. Her dry mane and tail were frizzy, she smelled of mildew, and her flocking was balding/thinning...

Now, two years later, I knew I could transform her! I recently learned how to fix pony hair, and researched other people's deflocking techniques. This is what I did:

1) I took Lofty apart: easily popped her head off.
2) I filled my bathroom sink with the hottest soapy water it could do (hot enough it hurt to touch), to soak her head and body for several minutes.
3) I grabbed a pair of scissors, and meticulously scrapped at all of her flocking for hours! I re-filled the sink with hotter water multiple times to dunk her regularly.
4) I lathered her wet mane and tail in conditioner and used my mom's (LOL) flat iron on its second-lowest setting to soften them. I dried her mane in tiny curlers.
5) I bought 100% acetone nail polish to remove Lofty's remaining glue residue. I went outside, sat down, and scrubbed her everywhere for a few hours, careful to avoid painted details.
6) I gently cleaned her a final time, let her dry out overnight, and reassembled her to finish!

I started Lofty's restoration on New Year's Eve and finished everything yesterday. She's SO much prettier than before! The deflock did reveal several mold spots inside and outside of her body. I also neglected to remove flocking bits from between her roots and had nothing to scrub glue from her painted details. Regardless, I'm extremely happy with the results!

How'd I do? I'm also curious how y'all deflock your So-Softs differently. :rainbow:

Wow, that's funny! I just joined the other day and haven't seen anybody as young as me yet, now here you are. It does seem our MLP collecting interests are different, but regardless, welcome!

It might be difficult to tell I really like January Joy, I know my username isn't too obvious.
She's not quite an absolute favorite, but she's probably my "rarest" G3 pony. I love that her name's an alliteration, she's got pretty colors and a party-themed garnet symbol! It's fitting because I was personally born in January!

It looks really neat, your color choices and painting is great! You've nearly fit every festive MLP I know of across all generations in there, haha!

Pony Corral / Re: What was your best pony purchase for 2020?
« on: January 01, 2021, 11:24:11 AM »
My best purchase of 2020 was definitely G1 Raincurl from eBay! She completed my beloved set of Rainbow Curl Ponies. She's a big favorite in my collection now.
I paid around $20, although her hair was a disaster and she was pretty dirty. Fortunately, she cleaned up very well! She even still has largely unfaded pink streaks in her mane and tail! I couldn't be happier.

Introductions / Introduction by Enthusiastic Young Collector
« on: December 31, 2020, 08:49:54 PM »
Hello! I'll be sixteen on January 18th and have been collecting vintage My Little Ponies since February 2018. I'll be honest, not entirely confident I'll fit in with these older collectors, but I'd like to give MLP Arena a chance for 2021!
:what:

I've enjoyed My Little Ponies as early as 2008. I only had a few G3.5 brushables, though. But I also got a tin-boxed Ponyville board game, and it's still complete after twelve years! I watched MLP:FiM in 2011, and became obsessed with its fan content in 2015. However, I lost interest by 2017.

I purchased my first G1 MLP in 2016 off eBay: Moonstone. This decision inspired my love for G1 MLP over a year later, everything had come full circle! I went from one to twenty-four toys within three months. I knew my life was over! Haha! :help:

I had three shelves for all my MLP by the end of 2018. Then, in May 2019, I added the first G3 MLP to my collection: Starsong. I loved her, and ever since I've also been a G3 collector. When I moved across the country, I needed an upgrade, so I got an Ikea collection cabinet. It's now the "centerpiece" of my bedroom.

Today, I have over one-hundred and fifty My Little Ponies, and zero sanity. I'll probably make that my next post after I draw my avatar icon! I add to the collection regularly, so if I enjoy this forum, y'all will hear plenty of me. I'm so sorry.

Thanks for reading! Happy New Year! :rainbow:
